Does anyone else have a child who has a cold on/off all winter?

My dd gets a cold, it goes away and then three days later it starts all over again. She does have allergies but these are cold symptoms which sometimes lead to sinus infections, etc. Anythin I can do to pump up her immune system?

What grade is she in?

Since my 11yodd started middle school this year she has been better. I think it might have something to do with no recess.

The cold symptoms for your dd are allergies most likely. I know I have them. I get shots once a week.
DD is on claratin when her allergies kick in. If her nose gets bad she uses nasonex.

As far as homoepathic ways I am sure they are out there but I haven't explored it.

I would also recommend allergy medicine if she's not on something already. Having allergic symptoms does lower your immunity. Also, when you have all that mucus in your head, it's much easier for an infection to set in. I usually take Zyrtec year-round and then Flonaise all spring and fall since those are my really bad times of the year.

well, i'm not a child, but i get colds on and off the whole winter too. :( and i don't have allergies. :(

my doctor's have recommended that i take a daily multi-vitamin, and that's what i've been doing so far this year. it does seem to help a little.

I do...the last couple of years it has gotten better but this year seems to be back to the same old same old. This has been going on since she was 6 months old and she's now 13. I could set my calendar to her getting sick - it would be about the same time from October to April. At 1 1/2 we found out she had a birth defect in her bronchial tubes that when she would get a virus and she coughed - her tubes would collapse thus not releasing the germs. So they would sit in her lungs and just regrow. Once the fresh air hit - it was enough to kill the germs and get them out. She has never taken cold weather well at all and can't do the sledding things like other kids - her lungs just can't take it and it's too much of a risk. She has had pneumonia once that she was hospitalized (at 1 1/2) and severe bronchitis every year since.
