Does anyone else find this a little creepy for an adult to say?

My thoughts exactly. You can see how easy it can be to get a lynch mob going by reading these boards sometimes.

Yuck! Even if he meant nothing by it, his choice of words was not appropriate AT ALL. I definitely wouldn't be asking the guy to babysit!

That is something an adult should not say about a child. As a parent I have been very protective of my kids. There are so many sick people out there. It's very scary. One concern I have about these boards,is how many people post pictures of their children. To some people this may sound stupid, but there are so many weirdo's out ,that I would never want to parade pictures of my children on a web sight. Again this may not bother some people but it disturbs me.

Creepy yes, inappropriate, definitely. Poor choice of words or not, I would definitely keep a close eye on your neighbor especially if there are kids around.

I would not try and convict him, but I would keep my children away from him. Very strange choice of words.

As far as 'lynch mob' mentality, sorry, but as far as protecting children from sexual predators (who don't wear a badge of identification, btw), parents have very little to go on but gut feeling, keeping an eye on those who exhibit inappropriate behavior and talking to their children about safety. If you know of a better way to keep children safe from people who secretly molest them, let me know.

ODD... i would certainly say that was outragous never mind ODD ...eeewwwww keep away from the creepy guy... It made my skin crawl just reading that, did you not ask him what he meant by that comment???What a wierdo (not you...him)yuk

I was going to say the same thing. Heck, sometimes nervousness makes the wrong words come out of my mouth and I'd hate to be judged on those types of boneheaded verbal errors.

I can see myself thinking certain words but other words come out. In my head will be "I'm sure all the girls will find him quite the handsome young man some day" and instead will come out something like your neighbor said.

Stupid yes, but it happens all too often with myself so I can sure imagine that it happens to others as well.

The chances that you will leave a 5yo unattended around him, I hope, would be rare so I wouldn't worry TOO much about him. If he were the parent of a friend, then I'd change my plans. This guy should know better than to associate "sexy" with a child, and to his Mother???? Bad choice of words. His intentions we don't know but as parents we have to fall on the side of caution.

<font color=navy>I'd say that's about as inappropriate as the guy at work who asked me one year if my 11 yr old dd had started her period yet.... ick...

oh, and I did tell him off.

I wouldn't like this comment either, especially coming from a grown man..

That being said, I have two nieces that when they were very young (2 yrs), their mother would do their hair in a sort of up-do with all the wispy hairs tumbling down onto their shoulders and into their eyes. They were very, very pretty-"sexy" is a word that crossed my mind. Of course, I never said that word out loud, but I did think it.. I couldn't understand why someone would try to make their little girl look like she was about 20....

Of course it would be difficult to do something like his to make a little boy "sexy", so I am wondering what was going on in this guys head.. probably just a really bad choice of words, but better safe than sorry...

:( I too, find this to be a very strange and inappropriate comment.

Here in Ma, I don't think you can get names of sex offenders online unless they're Level 3 offenders, which is the worst level. You can look up online how many of each level are in each town, but the names/addresses aren't available unless they're Level 3.

I would keep my eyes and ears open. That would make me uneasy too!!

:scared1:

Dalton, you asked how long he has been a neighbour. He moved in last year, so, not very long. We have never spoken much beyond "Hello" and maybe "Merry Christmas". We'll wave if we see each other but this was the first time he has come over to "chat". He has a wife, but no children. I don't know anything much more than that, so that doesn't really help does it?

I'm not jumping to conclusions, but like others have said, my instinct just told me something was a little "off" about it. Guess I won't know for sure what was going on his mind. I am trying to see if he is on some registry but I have not been able to find this yet.

I can only reiterate what everyone else has said. That comment wasn't just inappropriate it was way off line::yes::

It made my skin crawl reading it.

Let's say it wasn't an innocent just inappropriate comment,it's possible it was freudian slip, and he slipped up and let his guard down saying it.

Please keep an 'eye' on him.:(

well, that' is unsettling....
but, I see you are in Canada, is it possible that he doesn't really know english well and the translation was wrong? You say he hasn't really spoken much to you so maybe he doesn't really know much english.

I'm not defending the guy, just looking at other possible senerios.....

That was another thing I wondered about and something I think is more possible than the pedophile scenario that everyone jumps to. That's sad. :(
