Does anyone else constantly waffle over resort choice?

Tell me I'm not alone!
I made reservations at the YC, where we stayed once before and we loved it, but I keep wondering if we should try the BC or Poly.
I am drivng my family crazy since as soon as I booked YC, I started asking them if they'd rather try a different resort. This must be some kind of disease.
Am I nuts?
We are only staying for 5 days and I don't want to split our stay. We did that once before and we didn't like packing up and moving in the middle.
Can anyone help me decide? Or at least tell me I'm not alone?

I can't help you choose, but you aren't alone. My trip isn't until May 2005, but I'm back and forth. It's my boys' first trip, and we had decided to stay at Pop Century because of our budget; this was before I knew about discount codes. Then my 3-yo saw the pics of ASMo Toy Story buildings and is convinced (without me saying a word to him) that he gets to stay in the "Toy story hotel" as he calls it. I would like to stay at CBR again, we had a great time the last time we were there, and I know now that we will be able to afford it, especially if a code comes out, but how do I tell ds he can't stay at TS?

Not exactly the same situation, but hard to decide just the same!

I usually change resort joices about 3 times per trip. Going the May and started with POR and now at the Swan. I usually book room only.
7/4 trip for Oct is a package of course and so will probably stay with the Poly which I have booked now, BUT, you can never tell, I might not too LOL

We have been every year now since 1994 and have stayed at a lot of resorts. Advice to you....we stayed at the Beach Club in '96 and had an absolutely wonderful vacation. A year later we booked it again and to be honest the second time around just couldn't live up to the first. We even requested and got the same room we had the first time. The weather was awful too so that had something to do with it. I guess what I'm saying is try the different resorts so you can have that first time experience all over again. We haven't gone back to the BC since '97 and probably won't again but we still haven't tried all of them yet
 I always waffle around with several before we finalize the reservation; this year we're going to AKL - can't wait. Last year we tried Port Orleans Riverside.

I have changed where we are staying on our next trip so many times that my husband thinks I a crazy:crazy: He said not to tell him where we are staying anymore...just piont him in the right direction when we get there because he knows I will have a final choice by then...Of course I already do, but it will be a suprise to everyone in out family! Dh, myself, DSS 12. DSD10, DD7, DD4, DD2, DS8mo!!!

I do this all the time! I changed resorts 3 times before our last trip - we ended up at AKL - fabulous resort!:bounce: :Pinkbounc Right now I'm in the middle of a GF/BWI crisis of indecision for our Christmas trip. I don't know why I get so bent out of shape - I've never stayed in a WDW resort I didn't like. We used to have a resortoholics thread around here where people could discuss their "illness.";)

I'd definitely do CBR instead of ASMo if possible. We spent one night at ASSp before checking into AKL and I didn't like it at all. Of course, we didn't really have time to look around and it seemed like there were huge grouops of loud teenagers everywhere, so maybe we just didn't experience the resort in it's best light. Maybe you can explain to your son that he will get to see Buzz and Woody at the parks, and that he gets to stay at the beach at your hotel!

Hi,

Done the same thing on our May trip. First it was 3 day @ AKL SV then it was 4. Now its 3 days Savanah/1 night WL. Hope we will be happy!

i LOVE this dilemma, it reminds me of the Boma buffet.
soooo much to choose from: some we will like, some we will LOVE, and a VERY few will be "just nice" ~ no matter what tho, it will be an experience we'll remember.

YC is our fav resort, but my vote is still to "try something new" ~ don't you love that sensory overload when you 1st walk into a new resort, trying to see EVERYTHING in the lobby, the gift shop, the room? (we've noticed the resorts even "smell" different ~ not bad, just "different")
if you like YC, i'ld try the BC (remember to request a "full" balcony) or BWI.
good luck, whatever you decide!

If I were you I would either keep your reservations or stay at the BC.

The pool is the best of all the pools is my main reasoning. But it is in a really good location for food, Epcot, and MGM.

Unless, you want to be on a monorail resort , then I think you
have made an excellent choice. since the YC and BC and right
next to each other it is almost like staying at the same place.

So dont worry yourself to death over it. Just relax and know your
family will have a great time, since you have been there before.

and yes, it is okay to have a favorite resort and stay at it
each time.::yes::

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't decide.

I know we'll enjoy wherever we are. I'm finding it hard to decide whether to leave the familiar YC and try the unknown Poly or BC.

Part of the fun of the trip is the planning!

OK, you are SO not alone!

That is the biggest decision I have with my vacation. I have a DH and 2 DS and although they love WDW, I don't think it matters too much to them where we stay. DH is just concerned about the money and how much everything is going to cost.

It is frustrating, because I am left alone in the decision making process :( I wish someone would just say...."Oh, I would LOVE to stay at ____________!"

So right now I'm waiting for some codes/discounts to come out for late summer. I guess that will help me make up my mind.

Wow, I thought I was only one who was like this....at least now I know Im not crazy!

Well, I wouldn't say you aren't crazy, just not alone:teeth:
I absolutely drive my family MAD every trip. We are staying at the Poly, are you sure you wouldn't rather AKL, I can get a better rate, how about BC, the kids would love the pool, what about BWI, we would enjoy the Boardwalk, we did like CBR when we stayed there and we would save money, how about POFQ, everyone seems to like it, on and on and on until we get there.
I always end up at my first choice, too.

It gets even worse when you've stayed almost everywhere! Now it's become like a game to me... I HAVE to stay at every resort at least once. :hyper: I'm really excited to try POFQ for this next trip... I've never stayed there before. I'm already thinking about our September trip and planning to give AKL a try. ::yes:: Then I'll only have the Contemporary and Coronado left after that. ;) All the resorts are so special in their own way... it's hard to have a favorite.

Just had to chime in to say I too am making myself and famly crazy with the choices! In February I booked 5 nights at POR. A few days later changed it (and airline tix) to 6 nights. Then I found out about Disney Visa 7/4 and booked AK instead. Then a few days later I chickened out and went back to POR. Now, 3 days ago I changed again to WL. We leave May 7th so I think that should be it for changes! However, I REALLY want the Poly but they only have lagoon view, even with deal I think it is too much. Have called 2X looking for a GV though! It is crazy but part of the fun. Hope everyone has a great trip!

I just read these replies to my husband and he laughed - said I could have just cut and paste a number of them and posted myself. We're leaving in 2 days and staying at the Poly and CR-I will not think about changing. But, have the GF reserved Dec 19 - 23 - still plenty of time to change that one. ;)

My biggest problem is that when I change my plans I tend to upgrade - so the longer I have to plan, the more expensive the trip gets. I planned our spring break trip on the spur of the moment and decided that since we hadn't prepared for it we should try out a value. Then I changed and made a ressie at POR. Then I changed that to AKL - but only standard view, I promised myself firmly. Well, that went to pool view and then to savannah. I even checked into switching to Poly, but they had nothing available for our dates. We loved our savannah view at AKL! So far I've not changed any plans for summer 2005 trip - for my mom and dad's 30th anniversary, but I think that's because there are so many of us and there are very few options except for villas.

I think I do this because I make my resort rez so far in advance and then I do too much research and different reasons to switch.

For my trip coming up in May, at first I made a rez for WL, then decided I wanted to save money and switched to POR (which is one of my favorites), then I found a discount for Hotel Royal Plaza through Mousesavers and one for Dolphin/Swan with AAA. One was $300.00 less one was a couple hundred more, but I decided on Dolphin. Then when the discounts came out, I figured out that I could get WL for what I was going to pay for POR. But, I finally sold myself on Dolphin and decided to stay put.

After awhile I start to feel:crazy: !!

But, now I'm on to last minute issues cuz I'll be there in just a few weeks!! :teeth:

LOL leighe, when we first talked about the trip, it was a moderate, then it was a deluxe because there would be more room, finally it's GVconcierge at the Poly. I swear I will not upgrade to LV, I am going to control myself, I am. (maybe)

I have two trip planned one in Oct. and then in Dec. I just told my DH that i have all the hotels set for my Dec. trip he said are you sure and not to tell him as it was way to early to count on me not changing my mind. I hate to say it he could be correct because if i come up with more $$$ i'll upgrade my Mousefest vacation package and will stay at the AKL instead of ASMO but my add on days i know i won't change(BWV & my first stay at the Dolphin). Now for our Oct. trip i have 4 days still up in the air but will be staying at the BCV most of our trip. On our first Xmas vacation'02 i change so many times DH ask after we landed which resort are we staying at he really didn't remember which one i'd finally picked. So you are not alone i blame Disney for offering so many wonderful choices.
