Does anyone else buy their kids new clothes for the trip?

My kids do get new clothes for Disney trips with a few previously worn Disney special outfits thrown in. DD loves to wear her special outfits - she has a Minnie dress (somewhat vintage Disney park merchandise), a blue and white Belle dress (vintage Disney Store), an Alice in Wonderland dress and embroidered pinafore (vintage Disney park merchandise), and a Snow White dress made from all cotton with embroidered Dopey (vintage Disney park merchandise). These dresses all came from ebay and are great for pictures and she is comfortable as well (there is no way my "sensitive" kid could make it through a day in a true Princess costume). I have a couple of these dresses in bigger sizes put away and have on-going searches on ebay for others. I also bring "regular" Disney clothing for her - Minnie outfits/dresses, etc. for those days when we need a change of clothes after napping etc.

DS wears all Disney clothes - unfortunately boys stuff just isn't quite as interesting or fun as girls but cute nonetheless. He has only been twice (just celebrated his first birthday there) but I have had so much fun looking for cute Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc. clothing.

We also bring Disney bathing suits, sunglasses, etc. I also wear as much Disney clothing as I can manage and dh generally wears some but not all. Most of our stuff comes from ebay, the Orlando Disney outlets, TDS big sales, or the Disney catalog outlet (we visit 2x/year). I love good Disney merchandise but it can be expensive so it definitely pays to shop wisely as so many of you have mentioned.

Does anyone else go so far as to coordinate their kids clothing to the park/activity for the day? My daughter wore her Minnie dress to have breakfast with Minnie (and for the rest of the day of course) and her Alice dress when we dined with Mary Poppins and Alice. She wore the Belle dress to CRT and Snow White to PSB. The pictures are sooo great and the kids get wonderful character attention as well. DS wore his Bear in the Big Blue House overalls to MGM and a Pooh outfit to CP.

It can be addictive, can't it? I love dressing my kids cute and know the time I can do it will be over soon so I am making the most of it!!

This last trip a few weeks ago I didn't have to buy my DS4 too much because I had bought several things at the end of last summer at clearance. I usually try to anticipate his size and buy some clearance things for the next year. I did buy some shirts at the Disney store though. I guess I'm getting a little obsessed because I bought him a disney shirt to wear at each park, 2 Buzz shirts.... one for MGM to get his picture taken at Al's Toy Barn with the Toy Story crew (his favorite) and one for MK because he loves Buzz and has to go on the Buzz ride and a picture with him there as well. Then a Nemo shirt to wear to Epcot because he loves the Living Seas and it is now somewhat a Nemo theme. For AK I wanted to get him a Lion King shirt but couldn't find one. :( But alas, I bought him a cute one there right outside the Lion King Show. Of course we do alot of park hopping so he doesn't always stay themed for each park. I just thought it would look cool for those special pictures. Probably a little crazy but I know I won't be dressing him "Disney cute" much longer.

I always buy DD new clothes before our trips. Since we go in May and October she gets new stuff twice! I don't buy for style but for comfort and the fact that I like my kids to look nice when we are on vacation. I don't want to look like a bunch of dirtballs. If I let her wear her play clothes that I allow her to trash at home then she wouldn't be very presentable at Disney. My mom used to buy us kids all new stuff and I do the same. I even buy myself all new undies, bras, socks, and shirts.

akasleepingbeauty - I thought I was the only one who coordinated the kids outfits but which character meals/parks we were going to. It's nice to know I'm not the only "crazy" around.

Oh Yes I buy new clothes for DD too! I do alot of clearance shopping too and as we have been going in Feb. this really works out well. I buy DD the next size up summer clothes at the end of the season and save them until our Feb. trip. By then she usually needs the next size and we have been lucky with great warm weather. DD who at 3 already LOVES clothes adores her new wardrobe!

I am buying my 2 DS's, Hubby, and Myself new clothes for our upcoming trip in June/July... Hubby and myself have an excuse, we are almost nekkid, and are in dire need of some new duds... DS's (6 and 4) will be getting some nice new things as well, usually found at Wal-Mart. I even went as far as buying some Mickey and Minni underwear the other day, FOR MYSELF.. LOL... wanting to be in full Mouse spirit.. LOL

yea,
I'm not crazy. All the clothes may not be new because I get most of them from ebay and the thrift store. But I get everything WDW oriented. Right before we leave we all get new sneakers (about a week before and wear then for that week to break them in:rolleyes: ) and new under clothes. The baby's get new clothes because the disney store always has a sale on cute stuff for the little kids. The big kids are just happy to have on a "new" (new to them) shirt and to be going to WDW.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

My daughter is growing at an usual rate! Anything I buy her now will not fit in 3 months. Especially, pants!!!!

I don't think that fact that her father is 6"9' has anything to do with it.

not here but we do live in fla year round so I really dont have to buy weather appropriate clothing. if its during xmas- I pack pretty much clothing for all type weather since you never know. Im constantly buying my daughter something princess related all year round. I do bring all their disney gear, including hats so they can wear them during the trip.
sounds cute to color coordinate though!

I was planning to, but my mom for some unknown reason has been buying my boys matching outfits like crazy the last couple of months. They have 12-14 each that match, along with their several others that don't, so if I take most of the matching ones with us, I could easily pack a week or 10 days early and still be fine on clothes for them.

I'm shopping for costumes for MNSSHP instead!

Steph

I buy new clothes if for no other reason, its easier to pack. I usually buy all new socks, under garments, pajamas, and outfits. I usually put the stuff in a layaway somewhere (TJ Max, Marshalls, and/or walmart. That way when I bring all the stuff home I just transfer to suitcases!!! ALL PACKED!! And I wont end up like Delwife wearing my husbands tighty whities!!!! - because I forget something extremely important!!
