Does Anyone Dislike House, the tv show?

Inspired of course by the House thread. This is one show that I watched the first couple of episodes of, hoping it would improve. I waited a year or so, tuned in, still hated it. I watched it last week and I just don't get how a show about a rude, arrogant, drug dependent physician is still on the air. I guess House is an "either you love it or you hate it" kind of program.

I loved it to begin with. I didn't miss an episode the first couple of seasons, but then it just became the same ole same ole to me. I didn't make it past the 2nd episode last season. I really don't care for any of the new cast members and the originals don't seem to be enjoying it the way they used to.

What appealed to me initially was the "mystery diagnosis" aspect of it. I got the first one before "House" did. (osteogenesis imperfecta) After that, it got increasingly ridiculous; providing care with no nursing staff. radiating patients with no diagnosis, etc.

Dawn, I just read your other thread about putting your house up for sale. I think, right now, you'd dislike anything with the word house in it.;)

I love Hugh Laurie as an actor....absolutely HATE House...can't even get through an entire episode.

:thumbsup2:rotfl2::rotfl: I think that is it!

DBF loves it, I like it but sometimes I doze off during the episode. LOL Some are really bad, some are good, some I diagnose first and I have NO medical degree at all....LOL

But I like watching Chase. ;) LOL

I used to watch it regularly but as a health care professional, I know very little of this program is based on fact. Especially the way Dr. House treats patients, families and staff. He woulda been gone from every hospital I know of as just too much of a liability.

I can take one or two episodes a year but that's about it. I would rather watch "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS anyway. ;)

ITA, which makes it particularly unrealistic.

Love the show but then again I don't really analyze it for its true-to-life component.

I agree. And it kills me that THAT show is still on, and my beloved Prison Break is gone. :guilty:

I tried to get into it. I never could.

My DS and all his HS friends love the show. I can take it or leave it, but I like to watch it every once in a while, as I went to HS with Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy).

IDK...My OB was pretty arrogant and rude. I HATED him, but was too much of a chicken to switch docs. I think sometimes it helps to have a doc who doesn't sugar coat things for you like so many do.

I don't like it either.
I totally agree about having a rude, arrogant, drug dependent physician as a lead character.
So wrong! DH likes it though. I won't watch it.

That would make me watch it.

It's the same thing that attracted the Victorian English to the story of an arrogant, emotionless, drug addicted sleuth named Holmes and his long suffering, medical professional roommate Watson. They are interesting characters, and the mysteries aren't half bad either.

I used to like the show, I love Hugh Laurie and liked all the original cast, but then they brought in all those new people and I hated that. And it's the same show all the time, someone has a mystery illness, they keep trying stuff until the end of the show and then they come up with the real diagnosis and miraculously save the person. It just got boring to me.

I enjoy the show when I watch it- I'm not really into any tv shows enough to make a point of watching them but I have caught a few House "marathons" on when i was recovering from surgery not long ago. I work in a hospital, and I agree that the show isn't very realistic (I have never seen a doctor perform any of the tests/treatments that the patients routinely go through on the show- they just order the tests, then the nurses, therapist, techs etc do the test/treatment) BUT, tv is entertainment. I think House is a lot better than all the reality junk that is on tv right now. I have enough reality in my life, thanks, when I watch tv it is because I want to ESCAPE from it!

Oh- and I secretly have a crush on House's Dr sidekick friend there.... don't know his name.... the cancer Dr. xoxo

I LOVE LOVE house!! I think they should not have him STOP the pill popping...I am sorry but I just loved it...it is TV not reality...thats why I like it!
