I joined a while back, and I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to unjoin this ridiculous group. I've been on the Dis for many, many years and I'm so used to questions being answered, period. They hide behind, "well, if you don't like our quirkiness (a guise for high school behavior), then leave the group. The moderators are straight out of high school, seriously. Finally, today was a decent thread, of many responses of how many years you've been a dvc member. Then, a moderator comes along and starts this insanity of a million memes and sends it off into clown college. I think I've had it. But its like a train wreck. Does anyone belong and how long could you take it before discontinuing the nonsense?

I belong to "Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home" that is pretty good.

I unjoined awhile ago... I think it was after a bunch were pretty mean and petty over something quite innocuous. I felt bad for the person they were attacking.

I didn't need that sort of negativity around me.

They also "closed" the group while I was a member, acting very "exclusive" about the fb group (ummm, it's an Internet group). I think you now have to be recommended by someone in the group to be accepted. No loss on my part ;). I spend more time on dis now, lol.

Yes, you're describing it perfectly. And funny story, just like that, poof! They kicked me off last night because I called them out for being ridiculous. I've never seen a site so childish ever. So word of warning, DO NOT JOIN. They're a bunch of wannabe bullies, you'll regret it. Oh, and I'm just about certain, that the people that run the site are a business that buys and sells dvc points. They advertise every other post, and set up posts to sound like you're really trying to figure out what to do with your points, and voila, there's the advertisement. It got so old. Good riddance!

I belong to 2 on FB but honestly its just post after post about people who are either renting points or might join so its just tedious to scroll through all that rather then more member related stuff like what we discuss on this board.

Yes, exactly! Hence, my suspicion, that the people that run the site are a business for points, buying and selling. It gets so boring. They kicked me off right as I was going to unjoin :).

It's funny, I never really thought about it. Thinking back to earlier this week or last week I remember thinking "Dang you people are nasty" Someone asked a question, albeit a silly one, but they climbed all over that person.

Hmm, never thought to look for groups about DVC on FB. I may check out the DVC welcome home one but will definitely stay stay from the other.

I'm a member of several DVC groups on FB including that one. When it gets crazy, I just turn off notifications for the post. They are a sarcastic bunch and are very particular about what they allow to be discussed. That actually suits me fine because I don't need/want to know how many people received their Magic Bands today, how many days left until they leave, etc. That group is one of the most informative and accurate groups I'm part of. You just have to read the rules and know what to post and what to stay away from posting.

I'm a member of some super friendly, helpful DVC groups as well but they are nowhere near the size of that group and the pages don't get near the amount of posts.

Hope you find one you like. :)

What they "allow to be discussed" is the biggest joke ever! The so called "moderators" are the biggest offenders there. They go off on these ridiculous directions, completely not related to anything dvc. There are no moderators, lets face it. Unless you dare to call them out on being a business of selling and buying points, of which they are, period. If you dare to do that, boom, you're gone. Because its the truth. Just all those poor suckers don't know it.

I went looking last night and the DVC-Disney Vacation Club group looks calm. managed by a rental but doesn't apear to have many posts about it.

Thats not it. It has "members" on the end of it. But I'm telling you, you'll regret joining. If you want some entertainment and watch bullies at work, go for it. But they are not nice people. Fair warning.
