I know sounds crazy but the question has been posted is Disney as exciting as Christmas? IMO YES YES IT IS! Soooo we are going to start a new tradition DISNEY EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :rotfl2:
Do you celebrate?
What do you do?
What type of food ect. I love any celebration, we try to celebrate nothingness to kick life up a notch so Id LOVE  to hear your ideas or what your family does.
Thanks Disers Nettii:goodvibes

We haven't but I LOVE the idea and hope other DISers have some great ideas. Right now all we do is have pizza so that we won't have dishes to clean and I usually switch from being super excited to worried that I forgot something. Sounds like a Disney eve celebration is just what we need!

We do this the night before every vacation. The dog is at the kennel by this time so we spread blankets on the floor and have a pizza picnic. The kids love it, it's easy and there are no dishes to worry about.

Our Disney Eve is usually pretty low key, except for the fact that I'm usually running around like a crazy person, checking items off our lists. :rotfl: We usually order in or head out for dinner and have a movie night.

Our official celebration is done exactly one week before our departure date. I order a Disney cake from the bakery (decorated with the words "One Week Until Disney") and string streamers and balloons around the living room. Each kid receives a special Disney-wrapped item, and we spend the evening watching video from our previous trips and fine-tuning our "must-do's" of the upcoming vacation.

:)

What we have done in the past is have a slumber party. Usually other family members and friends of our kids go with us. Everyone spent the night at our house so we didn't have to "wait" on anyone...we would load up the night before.

Everyone gets really exicted..we play games or watch movies :happytv: and usually order pizza because I'm not cooking on "Disney Eve!" My DH and I would get up early and begin shouting "We're going to DW"..and wake everybody up! :yay: Lots of fun..

Sadly...we lost our big house in Katrina so even though we have about 18 going this year...we won't be having our slumber party...but will still celebrate "Disney Eve...or "Week" somehow!:cheer2:

We celebrate! We go out and buy our last minute toiletries and plane snacks together, then we usually go out to dinner or have pizza or chinese delivered. Then we drink wine/champagne for me, beer for him, and play gin, sit on our balcony and talk excited Dis talk.

I'm so jealous of everyone's pretty laid back evening before. I am usually a wreck, swearing I will never go on vacation again, washing & ironing all the clothes and trying to not leave the house looking like a tornado hit (nothing worse than coming back to a BIG MESS!!!)

There is no REASON most of the stuff can't be ready in advance, I'm just such a procrastinator. I always have alist and at the end, am throwing a million extra outfits in the bag "just in case" - of course, I don't think we've EVER worn those extras (for instance, DH insits that there is NO reason we need 2 pairs of jeans in orlando in May- we've never even worn one and if for some CRAZY reason the weather consistently dipped below 60 degrees, we could go go the mall and buy a pair!!)

We also do pizza on Disney eve! Then I finish up any last minute packing and relax. Of course, I always say I'm going to go to bed early, but it is too exciting!!!!!

This thread is getting me all excited for our trip!! We usually spend the night before having take out for dinner, because as many others have said, I don't do dishes on Disney Eve. After that the kids get their bags ready that they take in the car with them and we pack up the car. We usually just sit around for a while before bed talking about what we can't wait to do. When I wake the kids up in the very wee hours of the morning to head out I usually do it by screaming "Who wants to go to Disney World". That is usually followed by a heard of thundering feet and screams of joy. I have often wondered what it must sound like on the outside of our house at 1am lol. This year I am contemplating playing the Magic Kingdom board game after dinner and stepping up the wake up by playing some Disney music while screaming. Still trying to decide on which song to play.:woohoo: :woohoo:

WOW you guys are the BEST So much FUN! Im sure we will order in and watch last years vacation video, maybe even the planning video again!
Kerry 34 what is the Magic Kingdom board game? Sounds like Fun, we have Disney trivia and we have a blast playing:wizard: Thanks for all the great ideas, Keep them coming because I can never get enough DISNEY!

 Oh good...there is somebody else out there just like me! :rotfl: Not that it is a good thing...but at least I have company. :lmao:

Even though I put our suitcases out in our dining room weeks before going to Disney (to toss stuff in here and there), we are still doing the mad dash until the wee hours of the morning that we are supposed to leave. I've found that no matter how much I prepare and pre-pack things, the kids throw me a major curve ball right at the end-never fails. Thankfully, the last minute stuff tuckers them right out and they never have a problem sleeping the night before. I on the other hand, usually never even get to see my bed...but the adrenaline rush once we arrive at Disney keeps me going! :jumping3:

Admittedly, I am jealous of those who have such a stress free and tranquil day/night before the trip. What's your secret???

Doesnt matter what time our flight leaves for the world we always stay overnight at the airport hotel.....just to make sure we dont miss our flight :teeth: thats what I tell my dh anyway

An evening meal and lots of laughs and distalk :cool1:

Its a game where you have to visit each of the lands in the magic kingdom. We have only played it a few times in the past couple of years so i am a bit rusty on the exact rules. I bought two years ago for a christmas gift to my kids. The other game that is alot of fun is Haunted Mansion Clue.

what is the Magic Kingdom board game? Sounds like Fun,

It is lots of fun :thumbsup2 - there is a card for each attraction & each person gets one card from each land (our game has some WDW Magic Kingdom and some DL attractions - weird!) You must visit each attraction to turn your card over. Then once you have visited all of your attractions, you go back to the gate and you win! There are other variables such as event cards that can give you another turn, or allow you to send another player to First Aid (or wherever!). There are also chances to ride the railroad from one side of the park to the other. We love it - it would definitely get you ready to visit the World!

By the way - I LOVE this idea! We will definitely be doing something to celebrate Disney Eve!!!!

We have the MK game too. The kids like it because they get to visit the attractions in the game. We also have the Disney version of Trivial Pursuit, but right now our favorite by far is the pirate: POC Dead Man's Chest Life Game. Not really at all like the normal game of Life if you ask me. Lot's of fun and the kids always are in competition to see who will get to be Jack Sparrow and who gets the Black Pearl. I think we got all our Disney themed games from Toys R Us, but I have seen them everywhere. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have never done it but I love the idea!! I am going to start planning my "Disney Eve" celebration. I agree that you have to celebrate small things in life. It makes things more fun.:cool1:

I think that all of this sounds like so much fun! I always get excited about going on vacation, but this year is soooo very different. Our boys are small, 4 & 6, and this is really only our 3rd "family" vacation--but it's the BIGGIE!!! I have to admit that I never dreamed that planning and going to WDW would be like this though. :rotfl:
My DBiL is a crazy planner. He always buys every travel book for any place he and the DSiL are going. I thought he was a little OCD about it all! Well, let me tell you, HE called ME the other night to tell me about all the Disney shows on the Travel Channel. I Tivoed every one of those stinkin' things! I am officially becoming obsessed!
I have not one, but TWO big family things this weekend to get ready for. You know what I was out looking for tonight? Little gifts to leave my boys each night from Mickey and autograph books! For the love of Pete, we don't leave until JUNE!!!:rotfl2:
Anyway, you all are crazy, and I love it. It is so fun. My hubbie, he doesn't want me calling him a DH, is obsessed with Vegas. Not the gambling so much, just the whole town, atmosphere, etc... So, now maybe I'll have my thing. He just tells me that he is pretty sure the rooms aren't free, and we WON'T be bringing back any $ like our Vegas trips!;)
SO, back on topic, I love the idea of a Disney Eve. It gives me one more thing to worry about and plan for:scared: , but I love it. And I know my boys will love it!
Thanks! :cheer2:

We love "Disney Eve!" In the afternoon, I make special snacks to take with us. I always have to make our "Disney Mix." I don't know why the kids started calling it that, maybe because I usually only make it for Disney. Anyway, we do any last minute packing, take the dog to my parents and pack the car. Then we eat take out and watch a Disney movie. This year we are watching both Pirates movies because we are going to be in Disney for POTC3!!! Then we try to get in bed by 10pm because we are out the door by 5am for our 10 hour drive. Also, for the past 3 trips we have recorded our children as we wake them up to tell them "Get up, it's time for Disney!" I love their reactions when they first wake up. :yay: This is how each of our Disney trip videos start.

PLibster:

So, what's in your "Disney Mix"? I am always looking for new snank ideas!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing!!

Kristin

nitsirk987- goldfish, pretzel sticks, raisins, and mini-marshmallows

I mix all this together in a large ziploc bag and we eat on it for about 4 days. I'm sure you could add more ingredients. My DD always wants to add M&M's, but I don't want them to melt at the parks. :thumbsup2
