Does a magic band work if not scanned at the entrance?

My husband is not coming with us to the park one day. Can my son use his magic band (AP) and fast passes to ride some headliners again by himself? My husband won't have used the band at the entrance that day, so will it let my son use it for fastpasses?

My understanding is no.

Worth a try but remember he may need it to get in the room or if dining plan is on there to get a meal.

It didn't work before the magic bands. In the past if you tried to get FPs for someone that wasn't in the park you couldn't. So I bet not.

I thought I read a story from someone here who said MBs not used for entrance were indeed working for FPs. I'd be curious to see a recent report. And if it does work, I hope they close that loophole soon. If Disney is going to put severe limitations on my FP usage, I'd at least like to see them evenly applied.

Could very well be. I agree that's a loophole that should be closed if open.

I had this same scenario--and we were in the Magic Kingdom yesterday. My husband (has AP) was not with us and my parents (do not have AP and unable to pre-book FP+) went with us. I too wondered if this would work, so......I booked my FP+ for myself, my kids AND my husband. It worked! Even though his card (magic bands shipped today but did not have yet) was not activated for admission that day, my dad was able to use his card for FP+s reserved. It worked very well for us. Here's to hoping it wasn't a fluke, b/c I often go with others, as my husband isn't able to go nearly as often.

It worked in December. I tried it with my parents on a day they didn't come to the park specifically to see if that worked. Would think that would be an easy loophole to close so can't tell you if it works now.
