Doctors speak out about H1N1 VACCINE DANGERS

To the people not getting the H1N1 shot, when you get sick, you certainly don't want to ask you dr for Tamiflu. If you are so worried about the vaccine, then you need to read this about Tamiflu. Personally, I would rather get the vaccine then get sick and take this RX.

I have no intention of getting the vaccine and I have no intention of using Tamiflu. Again, what ever happened to letting the virus run its course? Why do we immediately run to the doctor for a fever and a virus? Most things run their course. Tamiflu is right up there with antibiotics - overused.

And I have been a doctor for 25 years, and ALL the 100+ doctors in my department will get the H1N1 as soon as it is available to us.

have you never taken ANY medication to eliviate your symptoms when sick? Have you never taken an antibiotic to fight an infection? Just curious where you draw the line of what should and shouldn't run its course.

What I don't get is why are some people concerned about side effects from the vaccine, but not the side effects from the flu?
I understand that on the rare (exceedingly) occasion you could have a reaction as severe as that poor woman with dystonia, but one of the rare (and not so exceedingly so) side effects of flu is death! Some others are bronchitis, MRSA, Pneumonia, sinus infections...all of which can have their own set of side effects, and I suppose those more medically in the know are aware of some others. I know that some kids can have debilitating seizures with high temps. that can come with flu.
And I keep hearing that h1n1 is milder than seasonal flu, but I'm pretty sure that it's already killed twice as many kids as the seasonal flu did last year, and it's only October.
The flu seems much scarier to me, but maybe I'm missing something...

I wonder about the idea of letting the illness run its course too. I very rarely get sick but if I do I'm certainly going to use what's available. I take Tylenol for a headache and Alka Seltzer for a stomach ache. I don't see it as much different.

Dang! Maybe I should have let this sinus infection run it's course for a few more weeks. Then instead of it turning into just a nasty case of bronchitis I could have one kick hiney case of pneumonia too! Think of the rockin' immune system I would have!

By the way, vaccines are not injected into veins.

I stand corrected---I don't know why I said veins, but mercury....a highly toxic metal, is still injected into your body, so where they put it is irrelevant.

To another PP: No, I am not getting the regular flu shot, either. I had one and it landed me in the hospital due to a "bad reaction to the shot" (the doctors words). It was a horrible experience, and I don't care to relive it.

I elected to skip most elective shots. No chicken pox, no flu.... I also dont take medicines alot, I do the homopathic cures.

One could also say that they hope she doesn't get the shot and end up regretting that decision. It goes both ways...

It's not like everyone who doesn't get the shot will get the flu, end up in the hospital, or die. Most people who get it, in-fact, recover in a short amount of time.

And,to those who say that they know 100+ people who are getting the shot, or everyone/every doctor they know are....have you personally interviewed each of these people? Is it madated that they get the shot (especially for healthcare workers?). What about all the medical professionals who are publicly stating that they don't want it, and don't think it's safe? Do you care to hear their reasons? Or, just because a lot of people are 'claiming' it's safe...just because they 'heard' it was, you automatically believe them?

Probably for the same reason that people are more concerned about the MMR or the DPT vaccines than the actual diseases they prevent. I don't understand it either, but then, I've actually seen patients with measles. I've seen congenital rubella. I've seen pertussis. I've seen meningococcal menigitis. I've seen severe Hemophilus influenza disease, including epiglottis and menigitis with subdural empyema. I have co-workers in wheelchairs because they had paralytic polio.


And yes, I've seen many many kids with autism and other developmental disabilties as well. And someday with real science and reasearch, hopefully those disorders will be gone, much like the preventable infectious disesases are now.

Hey, wouldn't it be ironic if someone discovered a vaccine for autism?

Oh, and the acute dystonic reaction, while frightening, is easily treatable. IV Benadryl. I've done it, and it works like a charm.

WE HAD OUR H1N1 VACCINE ...the live mist (oh no oh no lol) we are just fine and the live mist does NOT have thermasol in it so you will have to come up with another excuse....a month before my ds12 had h1n1 and I think it borders on abuse to let your child get this illness when it can be stopped...FLAME AWAY so what....my son was soooo sick and the dr gave us all tamiflu and it kept us from getting sick and we had no problems from that either! I do not care about being flamed so dont bother,I am just saying what some people may be thinking and dont want to be flamed for saying it! I think if there are ways to keep your kids safe then DO IT for petes sake! why risk it?

Could you please post the EXACT number of people who have received this H1N1 vaccine and subsequently DIED from it (or suffered serious side effects) as opposed to those who have already received it, are still alive and well, and have suffered NO serious side effects from it? Thanks!

Personally I will rely on my own research and that of my doctors.. As soon as it's available in the shot form, I'll be right there standing in line..

I don't know how many of you have watched one of your children suffer with a 105 degree fever, but it scared the bejesus out of this mother. DD was miserable, I was freaking out, and I never want to go through that again.

We will get the vaccine as soon as it is available.

My son and I got the h1n1 mist also, when I read that it didn't have thermisal in it I immediately made us tuna sandwiches with no mayo. Gotta get that daily dose of mercury some how right?

I have and ITA. I also do not want to risk the chance of my ds with asthma getting this. I get him vaccinated for the seasonal flu every year to provide another layer of protection for him, this one will be no different. I will take the very very slim odds of something happening to him because of the vaccine over the high probability of him getting very ill if he catches H1N1 without having the vaccine.
