On the Navs I just printed out from Barb & Tony's site...thanks to Lisa too......it seems as if I read that the Magic tenderd in St. Thomas. It is always possible I mis-read...but I thought since the new dock was built..there was no tendering any longer.

Can someone clarify this for me????

Thanks
Phyllis

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksviging.

It can be either way. When I was there in September we were able to dock. On 11/19 they tendered .... it depends on how many other ships are in port that day and who arrives when.

On the 11/15 magic, we had to tender in. I think the ships rotate, so everyone has to take a turn!

One of the cast members told me that every 8 cruises they have to tender. That would be for the 8th time in each port. We docked in St. Maarten. I wasn't exactly happy about it & didn't plan on us getting off the ship in St Thomas. DH convinced us to try it & we did go ashore. It wasn't bad. The only thing was we were on the last ticketed tender & they opened the tender line when we were heading down to deck 1 so alot of people without tickets got on before we did. That was around 9 am. If you wait a little later you will save yourself some time if you end up tendering.

OH GOSH...

Hopefully, the 12-13 will be able to dock. I just really want to
go to two or three shops in the mall and then back on the ship.

Keeping fingers crossed and pixie dust flowing....

You should be fine in December. It will be Feb - March before they will tender again in St Thomas. There was a nice market down from the tender tent that we went to. They had better deals souvenier wise than the shops.

If we tender, do we still end up at the same place as if we actually docked?
I want to take the "ski lift" to the top of the mountain, and I believe that we can walk to there from where we dock, can we walk if we tender?
Thanks.......

Christinou - no, you don't end up at the dock where the mountain tram is. You are tendered to the downtown area. If you want to take the tram, you'd have to take a taxi from there as it is not within walking distance (at least not in my opinon!). ::MickeyMo

Christinou....that was why I was concerned. The first time we
"tendered" in ST....we wanted to go to the tram lift ride. We rode the tender to the tender tent...and I wanted to get a cab. My
wonderful DH said....."OH let's just walk...it's not far". So, being the troopers we are...the three of us WALKED to the tram lift.
I think somebody on the boards said..it was like 5 miles. So we finally get there and do the lift, etc. So as we were coming back....I told DH he could walk if he wanted too..dd and I were taking a cab and we'd meet him back on the ship!!!! I really didn't care at that point....Well, he decided to take the cab with us. It was 90 degrees that day and dd and I were both ready to kill him. People kept riding by us in cabs and I just KNOW they were laughing at us lol.

ANyway...the tram lift is great. The view is out of this world..but if you tender in....TAKE A CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Advice from one who has been there...........

They should update it for December then and it will let you know if we are going to dock or tender.

Has anyone warned the replacement snowplowman about you?

And how could you hate snow????

It's wonderful!

Let it snow!
Let it snow!
Let it snow!

(But let Ann get her cruise in first!)

Thanks Ann..I will do that.

I just want to get off the ship long enough to buy some perfume for myself for Christmas....and buy some liquor. I guess we can do that in St. Marten if I have too.

Hope it stops snowing.....don't want you to be SNOWED in...

Later,
Phyllis

There is a discounted liquor store across the street from the tender tent. Also several other stores that I'm sure you could find whatever you were looking for.

When you tender, the tender drops you off at downtown Charlotte Amalie. This is where the real shopping is. The shopping at Havensight Mall is just a bland imitation of the shopping downtown. Don't worry about missing the shopping opportunity if you have to tender.

Dave...you know...I never thought about it that way....I just want to pick up a CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR MYSELF....lol and some
liquor!!!!!

Sounds good y'all...
