I'm still undecided as to whether or not I want to buy lanyards with holders for our KTTW cards for our August trip. We have 4 children ages 14, 13, 5 and 2...2 year old will be 3 when we go.

I want them to have lanyards to they can do pin trading, but do you recommend letting them carry around their own KTTW cards? I'm thinking maybe I should just carry them as I can't imagine what would happen if they got lost.

I think my two oldest girls would be ok with keeping theirs, especially since I think I have heard that money can be preloaded on them....not sure if that is correct or not. For EMH though, it seems like such a pain to be digging them out constantly.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

My nine year old loves his lanyard, he was 7 during our last visit...He still has it and will be bringing it on our next visit...My two year loves it as well, but I worry about him getting choked...

My kids wore them, and the older 2 got their cards, too. Plus, they each got a disney gc, and carried them in the lanyards, I clipped sharpies to them, and then the pins (off of ebay). We loved them - every morning, everyone would just grab theirs and go.

We buy a new lanyard for my son (13) every time we head to Disney World. He's not into the trading part of it - he gets too attached to his pins, but he loves being able to show them off.

As far as the KTTW cards, I hold onto everyone's. I guess I'm a little neurotic about losing them. The only time someone is holding their card is when we are splitting up for something. My son will however put the Fast Passes in his lanyard holder.

Before the trip we will usually stop over at the Disney Store any purchase Disney Dollars for my son's spending cash. For some weird reason he seems to take better care of the Disney Dollars more than "real" money. :confused3

I held their KTTW cards. I didn't get lanyards for my two younger kids, then the baby discovered pin trading and LOVED it. A CM handed her a two pack of pins, which she tried to trade a CM for an Aurora, that the CM just gave to her, and so it began. We had to buy her one because we left the one my cousin bought her in the car. She probably traded 30 times that day. She'd see a CM with a lanyard and scream "She/He trade! He trade!" So then we had to look at their pins. For reference she was almost 3.

My son won't touch a lanyard much less wear it. Any trading he does is from my lanyard.

My sons both love their lanyards (they are 5). I keep their KTTW cards with me, but when we get in line I hand them their cards cuz they do like to have some responsibility with their card. I am just not comfortable giving them total control of their cards. I worry they might lose them.
Another thing they like to do is pick a few pins out to add to their pin collection.

Our kids wore them last time, my daughter was 4 and my other daughter was 12. They did the tradiing. I recommend buying pins of ebay also!

I kept all my kids cards, just so we didn't have any accidents, this year they told me our tickets are being added to our room keys so defintely will be holding on to them.

We let our oldest two wear them, our youngest, never. She'd lose it ten seconds after she puts it on.

6/8 and then 7/9 wore their lanyards every second of our 9 day trips.. even in the heat of August.

We kept the KTTW cards though. They had medals at the bottom of their lanyards anyway.

My kids wear lanyards for their pins, but I keep the KTW cards. Don't want the hassle if they loose them.

Don't know if this has been said but my Micheal's store today had HSM. HM, Cinderella, Bella, and princesses lanyards for $1.

Thanks for all of your comments, you are wonderful! I will definitely look for some lanyards for the kids then. I had no idea that Michael's had them!

I think I will just hold on the the two youngest's kttw cards. Still debating whether or not to let the 13 and 14 year olds carry their cards. I sure do wish August would hurry up and get here.

My oldest will be 3 (1 month shy of 4) when we go. We are having him wear a lanyard as well as a tag around his neck (with his name and our cell #s). We plan to have him do the pin trading thing, and we are selling it like he's a big boy doing what Mommy and Daddy are doing (we'll both have lanyards and doing pin trading). Hopefully it will work, but if not, we'll hold onto his lanyard.

We also got him a "Lightening McQueen" neck wallet which will help ensure that he will WANT to wear it -- he LOVES any and everything CARS related!

Hi I am 18 and on our past trip I bought tons of pins to put on a lanyard that I keep my keys on. They might not wear them the entire time but it will be a nice souvenoir for them.

For the two youngest dont let them carry their kttw cards because theose cards are very important. For the older two its up to you. If you think their responsible enough then let them. I always gave mine to my parents just because I knew it was safer with them, so maybe you should ask your daughters.

This might be a silly question to most of you, but new to site and acronyms...

What are KTTW cards? We are going on our 2nd trip in June (and bougth lanyards for trading pins last trip)but don't know what KTTW cards are.

THanks!

Where at in Michaels's. I got plain ones off ebay. But I would love Disney ones.

Of topic a bit, but when you now use your KTTW card for EMH, do you have to take it our of the lanyard or just show it to them through the lanyard? I only bought one for me and DH, maybe I'll go and get one to keep DD's in and I'll just wear it too. I really don't want to have to pull those cards out for every ride.

We all wear zip-seal pouch lanyards with our KTTW cards in them, or passes, if we're not staying onsite. This makes sure that we all have a valid ticket and a room key on our persons; you can see it at a glance. I also carry photocopies of the cards in a secure location so that they can be replaced if lost.

My kids' cards do not have spending privilege unless we are on the meal plan that visit, in which case they have that, but not merchandise purchase money. We do write our cell numbers on the cards they carry, as ID.
