Do your kids go back to school in August...if so,

For those of you whose kids go back to school in August, is that usually the middle of the month? The reason I ask is that we are thinking of doing a camping trip to WDW this summer, I'm trying to figure out when it would be least crowded. Here are the Mondays in August:

My kids go back Aug. 9. That week is pretty standard in the area in which we live.

BTW, August is the 8th month, not the 9th.

I just checked for you. The public schools here start back August 9th for teachers and August 12th for students.

Good luck with your camping trip. It will be HOT.

Kids in our district go back Aug. 3rd next year--way too early--I always feel for those poor teachers out on playground duty. It's still steaming hot here in August.

In answer to your question, I have vacationed at WDW the last week of Aug. It is very quiet, but the parks have long hours. If you can stand the heat, that is the time to go! Labor day w/end itself, though, was a bit busy. I guess local short trips.

My kids generally go back the tuesday after the Labor Day Holiday. A few years ago they went pack the Monday before Labor Day, the Tuesday after is much better.

We currently live in Missouri. DD will get out of school at the end of the first week of June. Normally, schools here don't start again until the last week of August. We are moving to Orlando in June. Her new school will start the second week of August. She's going to have a short summer.

Usually my school starts the week before Labor Day, but since it is so late this year we start two weeks early, Tues. 8/24. I don't know if my kids will start that day or 8/31.

Kids here start back on the 9th as well. We are going July 31-August 7 for a family reunion and my dd starts pre-k on the Monday after we get back!

Schools in the WDW area can go back from the 1st week of August to the end of the month. Each district has it's own start date.

In our area, the teachers start back on the first full week of August and the students return the following week.

We will go back on the 2nd with the kids coming on the 5th. Some schools even start the last week in July around here. Anywhere from the last week in July to the 2nd week in August.

Our kids will go back on the 24th of August. (They get out on the 11th of June.) Most schools in NY will go back the Wednesday after Labor Day.

Kimberle, I know how you feel. My first child, DS will be staring kindergarten too. Probably the 24th of August but not sure. It's usually the week before Labor Day. Oh, how I'm dreading that day. LOL

Hi~I am brand new to this site, but I saw your question and had to respond!!

We visited Disney World last August (3rd week) and it was still VERY busy!!! We thought it would be a breeze, as most children are back in school--ours are in year around school, so they were "tracked out" then. I'm sure the crowds had thinned quite a bit from the summer rush, but we still waited in LONG lines!!
