Do you wear nylons with dresses and skirts in the winter?

We had a nylons and sandals' discussion quite a while ago. For winter, do you have to wear nylons anymore for casual elegant dress? :confused3

I do. Mainly because I would blind those around me with the paleness of my legs if I didn't. (it's a tad bit hard to tan in -20 degree weather....:sad2:)

Can't even remember the last time I wore hose, even when it was cold.

Now, I have worn tights on occasion but even that's rare.

I hated them as a teen, but now I love them, they seem to make an outfit look a little more professional to me. I am only 21 but look much younger so anything I can do to look more professional is done lol. Not only that, but they also make the skits on my suits lay much nicer. However in the heat NO THANKS

Not really, but I live in Florida. My pale legs don't look so pale. I prefer tights. I save "nylons" for a more elegant look but most often wear "nude" so that it doesn't appear that I occupied only half of a tanning bed.

No offense to anyone but it always looked silly when my mom wore "suntan" nylons in the Navy (nylons were a requirement) with her pale arms and pale face.

I live in Maine, so the hunt is on for nylons that are pale enough for me and my super white skin :lmao: I sent my boyfriend to the store to get me nylons once , he came home with toffee colored ones poor guy:lmao::lmao:

I don't even wear skirts or dresses in the winter with the exception of weddings and maybe DH's company Christmas party. For those two occassions I will wear some sort of hosier but other than that I stick with pants :thumbsup2

I wear them but I work in DC and we are fairly conservative dressers in this town! I work in a very large office and I also have other people from different companies come into my office. I would say that 90% of the women wear pantyhose of some sort. If you don't you'd better have GREAT legs and GREAT skin tone. If you don't, it's noticed.

same here...I don't like the look of hose, they make me feel like I"m about 70 or something...
I do enjoy tights sometimes when it is cooler, but never hose..

In winter with a wind chill of 10 degrees, :cold: OF COURSE! Any layer of protection is essential. If I can wear tights instead, so much the better.

I actually like the streamlined, smooth toned look of hose. A good pantyhose, not the cheap stuff, but one that has a smooth silky look to it flatters the leg. I'm of an age where my legs & skintone can use all the help they can get.

Mostly in winter I wear pants and knee highs for dress, but if I do wear a dress I do wear panty hose. My favorite thing about panty hose is..taking them off...I hate wearing them...

I live in Texas and it never gets that cold, but no, I wouldn't wear them in the winter even if it did get cold.

I haven't worn hose or knee highs in about 4 years. No one wears hose in Las Vegas; if you do you look like you just got off the bus.

No, but that's mainly because I don't wear dresses or skirts - ever!

In the summer - no. You would have a heatstroke here! Also, I generally feel OK about my legs in the summer (a little color, etc.).

In the winter - almost always. I prefer tights to pantyhose, but it depends on the dress/outfit. A nice pair of tights can be a fashion accessory, and they make your legs look great. Nice pantyhose do the same, and add a bit of sophistication.

That being said, BOY am I happy to rip those puppies off as soon as I get in the car at the end of the day!!!! :lmao:
