Do you watch the shopping shows on TV?

We have satellite TV now and I am amazed at how many shopping channels there are. There's the knife show, the electronics show, fine art show, a few coin shows and about a half dozen gem and jewelry shows. I guess they couldn't all be on the air unless someone was really buying this stuff, but I don't know anyone personally who buys from any of these shows. So confess if you A. like to watch them, and which ones, and B. you buy items from these shows. :confused3

I dont get the whole knife/sword/dagger channels thats for sure. Though someone must.

I will admit to watching the kitchen and home decor ones though. I actually ordered from them for the first time a couple of weeks ago when they had the Bare minerals make up on such a good sale.

Must be the make-up is a good price. I am curious about the other items. I know jewelry has a HUGE mark-up no matter where you buy it, so not sure if these shows are better or worse. As for the coin shows, their prices are usually just about double what we pay at any local coin shop, so I always wonder who buys through these shows.

I don't watch--but I answer calls for one.

Some people have lots of money and some people have no business spending their money (had one lady with tons of credit cards--like TEN of one type and TEN of another....and we got through 3/4's of them before we found one that had room).

My biggest laugh is the computers. Hubby about freaked when he heard me with my spiel and couldn't believe that people would spend THAT much. He's a software engineer and we own several and he knows where to look for what. Trust me---you'd be better off at circuity city and best buy. (he builds his though so buys stuff from on-line vendors. His days of building my computers are over--so my latest is from circuit city).

And when you call--please have form of payment ready and no what it is you are calling for. Things will go a whole lot smoother when you realize that the customer service person you are speaking with is not telepathic. ;)

I have seen several jewelry pieces that I would like to have. But I have never bought anything.

I don't really care for the production quality of the channel I answer for so I don't even watch it.

(and no I cannot disclose).

I have watched a bit of a few infomercials for the magic bullet (? - blender thingy) and the bedazzler (the chick from Apprentice was on it!) and one for the tabletop machine that makes pocket sandwiches and mini-cakes and stuffed soup. But I get too bored with QVC or HSN. My Gramma buys all of her gifts to family off of the shopping channels. I wish she'd just give us gift cards, or even nothing. I hate the schlock she buys, but I feel bad. She just doesn't know me and DH well enough to buy us things. One year, she got DH a hat/hood thingy for extreme cold weather, and when he put it on he looked like a robber. She buys me lots of jewelry that looks like stuff left over from the Golden Girls' wardrobe.

Fascinating! It must be an interesting job. I used to wonder if these shows faked a bunch of phone ringing noises to make it look like they were really busy, and if they really had a room full of operators, or maybe just one or two. But, air time isn't cheap, so I guess a lot of this merchandise does sell. The gem stone shows are strange in that they sell gems I never heard of. I begin to think they invent them as they go along! :rotfl:

I like the Quacker Factory clothing on QVC, and I do watch that. I have bought from HSN too, but I don't really watch the shopping channels. Sometimes I am channel surfing and I watch for awhile. I have bought three times from the Quaker Factory in about 10 months.

I think it is nice for people that have no other way to shop.

I really like QVC and I watch it a lot! I don't order a whole lot from them, but they have really great items and their customer service and return policy is AWESOME!! I love their Diamonique line, Pack Mate bags, and Lock n Lock storage containers. I can't stand their clothing..nothing is trendy and some of the hosts are annoying (Jill to be more specific), but they really have great things. I have yet to see them sell knives and coins on their channel, but I see those a lot on Shop NBC and HSN.

not at all...I have to see and touch things before I buy something!
