Do You Wash Chalk Off the Campsite Driveway?

I think my kids would love drawing all over the driveway with sidewalk chalk, but I don't know the proper etiquette. I wasn't planning on bringing a hose or anything (maybe a token one-footer) to properly wash it off. Do you guys who bring chalk wash it off yourselves, or is spraying down the blacktop a normal enough thing for the crews who turn the sites over for the next guest? I just don't want to be a big jerk.

There is a hose on every site! I've never seen anyone clean off their sites before leaving - they seem to leave it for the maintenance crew! Sometimes, it's also on the street. It is clean for the next camper though.

Wow. I doubt the OP is planning to leave the site trashed. If the maintenance crew routinely spray down the site between campers, there is no reason for them to spray it down themselves before they leave. In fact, it is a waste of water. I think that is their question. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer for them.

Why wouldn't you clean up after your kids?

If it were a hotel room, I wouldn't make the beds for the housekeeper, but I also wouldn't leave mounds of trash all over the room. I was just trying to figure out if this was part of normal maintenance for the crew, or if this would be an unusual imposition.

Normal maintenance for the crew. I honestly have parked on several sites at lots of other CGs that still had chalk writing on the site.

Not a big deal for us.

2) Why destroy artwork?

I agree - i would rather have a little art work on my site. Shows the kids are having a blast & why do we love the Fort? FUN, FUN, FUN!!

Pretty sure that the 'artwork' is washed off by maintenance as we've never seen a 'ready' site with any on it. Might be kids coming in that would like to create their own artwork - would not be happy campers!!

If you are there during the summer, wouldn't the afternoon thunderstorms wash it off anyway? Just a thought.

That was EXACTLY my thought.

Short of something that might be construed as "Offensive" I never bother with Sidewalk chalk Art. Between natural activity, rain, and dew, it doesn't last more than a day or two anyway. My DW did some on our last trip.... it slowly faded away and we never gave it a second thought.

All that being said, the Fort Maintenance crews spray down the sites after every guest anyway. I wouldn't stress it at all about cleaning up the chalk artwork.
