I was looking back on my old "Considering Renting from a DVC Member?" thread from 2007 (wow, has time gone by), and it's recommendation to use a written rental agreement.

The declaration for each condominium association appears to mandate the use of a written rental agreement (of course, the POS also forbids any renumeration for point transfers too!).

I was just wondering if those of you who rent (either as the member or the renter) use a written rental agreement, of if you think exchanging the terms of the rental over the phone or in an email is sufficient to ensure good communication so there aren't any improper expectations?

I always send the renter a written contract with all the terms and conditions in it. That way there is no room for confusion on either part.

Same here, a written agreement benefits both parities and removes any potential misunderstandings.

I use a contact. Once you have your set template it's easy to just change the pertinent parts for each rental. You need to spell the details or in writing anyway, might as well just make it look official.

I use one even if I've rented to the party multiple times. It's easy enough to create with the template and it only takes that ONE time there is an issue!
