Personally, I don't see a reason to use a travel agent when booking a trip to Disney World. We used one the first time we went, and paid higher than the other two we booked on our own. As one of the posters said, a lot of people on these boards tend to know more than the travel agents.

Now, if I had a lot of money and cared more about saving some time by having someone else do it, then maybe I would use a travel agent. I enjoy doing the research, though.

My wife and I did use a travel agent for when we went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. I would use a travel agent again if it came to a place I did not know well.

I've planned trips ranging from 4 to 15 nights. I know I got the rock bottom prices I wanted too and didn't miss anything either.

One word about emergencies. My Aunt and Uncle had the largest travel emergency that we have ever had in our family. They were in central FL on 9/11. Actually they were on their way to the MK that morning when the hotel staff told them it was closed. They were due to leave in two days and couldn't. My Aunt called AAA immediately and they were able to get them a rental car for the trip back up the coast to CT, with everyone else. They were home in about 30 hours.

The majority of my trips I take care of myself. I just like having Dreams Unlimited making the phone calls for me as far as PS(s) are concerned. They are also better at keeping their eye out on codes and applying them to your ressie as soon as it's time.

A long time ago, I usel my local travel agent for everything. Now I know better; thanks to these boards.

I will be at WDW in only 13 days ! Oh ! I can barely wait !

Anyway, my reservations are really a mixed bag. I got my first 3 nights at The Swan, with room only ressies, with Dreams Unlimited.

My last 3 nights are at BWV - one bedroom with rented points with someone on The DIS rent/trade board.

My airline ressies and Mears shuttle were made with my local travel agent.

My park hopper pass, and ticket for MVMCP, I got from the official Disney web site.

With all of the information on these boards, I think that I can plan better myself and get better deals.

I have had a great experience with Dream Come True Vacations. Although I obtained timely quotes from several "Disney specialists", Joe is the only TA who sent me a personal reply. I have been very impressed with his personalized service and would recommend him to anybody!
