Do you think the week of 8/26 will sell out right away for free dining?

I know some of you will think I'm crazy for waiting, but my family has never been to Disney, I haven't been there in 25 years, and I don't know if we'll want to come back in just a few months.

So here's what I'm thinking. We're going down in 9 days (whoo!), meeting a friend down there, and I was thinking if we had a great time, we could go ahead and book a vacation with our friends for the last week in August. We're pretty flexible about where we'd stay if we went--maybe wilderness cabins or a value resort.

So what do you think? Will we be disappointed and find everything sold out if we wait? Should we try to make a decision now? We'd probably be able to decide by the 19th or so...

Thanks!

Well, I'm hoping that everyone waits for free dining because I'm going 8/18 - 8/26 and maybe the crowds will be a little thinner the week before since everyone will be coming in as we're leaving.

To the OP:

You could always book the package now.. and if you choose not to go .. just cancel 45 days or more before your arrival and all your deposit will be refunded with no penalty.

We can't go then because school starts for us Aug.27th, and since my youngest will be in Kindergardren I don't want him to miss the 1st week of school. Were I live it is a big deal!! and fun to go the 1st week!
If it wasn't for that I wouldn't mind taking him out for a few days.;)

Thanks. I didn't realize the deposit was 100% refundable. HMMM. That's worth talking about.

I live in New England, and we don't start until after labor day. Otherwise I'd never go at that time--the start of kindergarten is big stuff for us too! I didn't realize that New England has a whole different school calendar than the rest of the country--we're going week after next during our public school "April vacation," (my son is in a public pre-K program) which apparently is when most of the crowds clear out.

I suppose since we have to live with this weather, we ought to get something out of it. ;)

Thanks for the advice. I'll talk to our friends who we're planning to vacation with (and two of whom by lucky chance will be there with us for two days this month).
