Do you think the week after Thanksgiving is going to be insanely crowded?

All of a sudden I have this feeling that it is going to be crazy crowded. I know in the past it has been pretty empty. I've just seen so many people mentioning they are going at that time.

We have gone that time of year 5 times and I must say that it has gotten increasingly (sp) crowded. I didn't go this past year 2004 at that time. It just got to hectic to have the kids out of school, work and do Christmas shopping. Guess I'm getting older. :flower:

I have found the first week in December one of my favorite times to go, and remarkably UNcrowded compared to other visits...so I would have to say no.
It's value season and the prices are good and most people are waiting until those two weeks of Christmas vacation to take their holiday. I think it is a prime time to go to the parks. Plus, if you are living in a snow state, the Orlando climate during those months is a welcome change.

Don't panic. I was worried about our trip this past Dec. 5-11 b/c it seemed EVERYONE on these boards was going at that time. The crowds were very light to us. Now, people who have been going at this time for years seemed disappointed as the crowds seem to get heavier every year- but still most rides were walk-ons or 5-10 minute waits. We were thrilled! I think you will be fine. THe Thanksgiving crowds should be gone by Sunday and it will be great!!! There may be a lot of people from these boards going, but remember, we are the ones who really really do their homework and make up a small percentage of visitors at WDW. You picked a wonderful time to go- everything will be so festive for Christmas! Don't worry and enjoy planning! princess:

Yay! I'm such a worrywart. I am just so excited about going on this trip. I don't think anyone I know understands it the way the DISers do. Dh appreciates it and supports it, and my mom is very excited, but I don't think anyone else is feeling as much like a kid as I am. :)

I have to remember that the last time I was there was the second week of June in 1995. Super hot, super crowded, and it didn't seem so bad to me. Of course, we had my disabled cousin with us, and even when we waited in lines we were ushered to the front, so I never really experienced long lines.

In any case, I'm going to relax and not worry about it then!

A few years back when we went Thanksgiving week, my ex-boss went the next week. It was very crowded Thanksgiving week, but the week he went he said it was not crowded at all.

Went in June 2004 and Thanksgiving week 2004. While it was as crowded Thanksgiving week as in June, I'd pick a crowded November over crowded summertime any time. The lack of heat makes it so much easier to deal with the crowds! Enjoy!

We went the monday after Thanksgiving this past yr.
The crowds were not bad. We did not have to hardly wait at all for rides. The weather was in the low 80's to upper 70's. I think that is my favorite time to go.

A couple of years ago we arrived in DW the week after Thanksgiving. It was WONDERFUL! The crowds were very low and my kids were chosen for many shows and parades. This is the best time to go - enjoy!

That's my favorite time of year to go. It was busier this year than last, but that could have had something to do with the hurricanes and people delaying their trips. Still, you have minimal waits, all the holiday decorations and decent weather.

Now for Universal, it was DEAD. I never saw 0 minute waits for Hulk and Spiderman before. I believe we rode MIB continuously for 1.5 hours (love that ride!) with no waits in the single rider lines. There were quite a few times we were the only ones in the car.

Yes! I would absolutely cancel and rebook for a different week... ***steps away slowly, hoping no one will realise I'm going to be there that week and want the park all to myself*** :goodvibes

Honestly, I've also seen a bunch of people mentioning they are going this week but I think those of us around here are not a good sample of John Q Tourist (although he is getting wiser) - we know the great times to go so even w/all of us on The Dis going that week I don't think it will be packed...

We'll be there at the same time! We are coming in on Nov. 25th and leaving Dec. 5th. While I think we'll hit some crowds on Sat. and Sun., I'm hoping for smooth sailing after that :cool1: This is our first trip down so we won't know the difference between a busy or not busy week and just plan to have fun! We chose this week for the holiday decorations and the historically lower attendance rates and eat lots of :mickeybar Will any of you be wearing the lime green? Since there will be so many, being a new member, I would like to meet others from the board.

We have gone that time during our last 3 trips and it did seem that last year was a bit busier. I think partially it was due to those rescheduling during hurricanes.

I do see an increased interest here on the boards for that time frame so I do think it is getting a touch busier as time goes on.

But even though we went last year, the longest line we waited on (no fastpass avail) was Aladdin and that was 30 minutes.

Also the longest line we saw was Splash Mtn - standby = 70 min. We grabbed fastpasses, watched the 3pm parade and went to get in line and by then it was down to 10-15 minutes.

Its a great time to go but be prepared for a variety of weather. Hot one day, cold the next. We have gone from great weather one year to another year where we couldn't wear shorts if we wanted too.

We're there from Nov. 27-Dec. 4th. All of a sudden I have this feeling that it is going to be crazy crowded. I know in the past it has been pretty empty. I've just seen so many people mentioning they are going at that time. We're also staying at VWL, which I know is very popular during the holidays.

No plans to change our dates, just have this feeling...anyone else?

I was kind of worried about it too since that's the week I'll be at BCV, so another Texan there! From what I've heard, it's pretty crowded thru the 27th, but drops off dramatically after that. I hope that's what truly happens! See ya there!

We went last year at that time. SUnday night at Downtown Disney was crowded and Monday at MK was a little crowded too. OTher than, that minimal wait times.

I'm glad someone asked this because I was starting to worry about the same thing!!! I keep seeing people saying they are going that week and have to remind myself that they are all people as obsessed with planning their trips as I am...the typical traveler is not going to want to be gone that week since it will involve missing school/work after a holiday and is so close to Christmas breaks as well...that is why this is a value season. If it was as popular as the rest of the holiday season they wouldn't keep it at value prices. Now I am just hoping for no hurricanes this year to send in rescheduling vacationers and we should be fine (wishing, hoping, praying!)...

Oh my, they didn't tell you guys? Disney has changed that time period to SUPERMEGAPEAK season and the rooms are more than the regular peak prices. So don't go then. Cancel your trips.

Just kidding, of course. I'm glad to hear that so many DISers will be there. As long as it is just us. :)

Crowds will not be bad, will be empty like it was before word got out on Internet forums and guidebooks that this was the week to go, no it won't. Definitely more and more people are taking advantage of all the holiday offerings and special events and the crowds have increased.
