Do you think the Star Wars dessert party at HS is worth it?

Not for the food you get, but for the space reserved for the fireworks.

Considering the park will probably be super crowded due to TSL, is it worth it?

There is an official thread for the SWAGS dessert party etc that you may want to peruse. It is in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies forum.

There are understandable reasons why some folks think the designated viewing area is too close.

For me, the viewing area meant being able to sit on the ground with plenty of room and no one obstructing my view. ( I am not tall. ) Plus, I was eating flash frozen Nutella and cheese&olive spears while other folks were staking out spots.

If you want a spot without battling crowds, yes, it's worth it. My DS9 and I first saw the show last August and, although we had saved spots way ahead of time, we had trouble seeing because we are both on the short side. We went to the party in December and, though there is some sound distortion because you are so close and you miss one of the effects at the end, we had ample space and even sat through the whole show in the party area. I wouldn't do it again (only because we don't need to see the show again), but if it were a one and done type of circumstance, I would spend the money.

We have done it x2 as DH is a big Star Wars fan. He does not like crowds either. For us it's worth it every couple of years, we do not have to see it every year.

Having a reserved spot is great, if you are able to sit, even better. We would do this party every year if we could sit in a reserved spot, like Illuminations.

We do the dessert parties about every other trip or so just so we dont have to stalk out a decent spot so far in advance. For that aspect alone its worth it. We thought the SW dessert party was one of the better ones.

We are star wars fans and have been to the dessert party. Our teenage ds had some great interaction with the stormtroopers. I enjoyed the adult beverages :drinking:Dh and Ds were all about the frozen nutella. The look on my son's face when we followed the storm troopers out to our spot to watch the show was priceless. We loved the projections and show. For us it was well worth it,but not an every year thing for us.

Can't wait to do it for the first time later this month. It will be our first dessert party ever!
I think it's worth it not only for the reserved seating, but for the SW themed drinks and deserts and the ambiance of the venue.

We've done the party twice; once in May 2017 and once this past May 2018 and I far prefer the older viewing area rather than the new one. It is very close, almost too close. That said, we still do enjoy the party itself. The food and drinks are great and even though the new viewing area is close, it's still much better than fighting crowds and or staking out a spot far ahead of time. We got to sit on the ground and spread out while watching the show. I feel you get more for your money than the other desert parties.

We love this DP. It's our goto now. The stormtroopers interaction is more than worth it.

Picture of my ds with a storm trooper taken at the party priceless! Just wish there was seating even if just at the dessert venue.
