Do you think that 10 is too old for the Wonderland Tea Party?

I am trying to plan some fun activities for my two DDs (ages 5 and 10). I was thinking of the Wonderland Tea Party and/or the Pirate Adventure. Do you think that the 10 is too old for these activities?
Has anyone booked these activities for their 10 year olds? If so, did they enjoy them?

I think that since 10 is within the age limit and also since your younger dd will be going she should have a good time, but that is jmho. I cannot speak from experience, although I'm sure my nieces that we have taken to WDW would have enjoyed it if we'd thought to do that for them.

I saw a show about Disney Weddings and one of the ladies getting married had her bridal shower done as a Mad Hatter Tea Party with characters and all. It looked like they were having lots of fun. If adults can enjoy that, why not a 10 year old?

Hi I would think the ten year old would practicclay die from embarassment at the wonderland tea party . But the pirate cruise would be a different story Whatever you choose have a great time!

When my girls (5 and 6) did this last year there were several girls there that were in the 9-10 year old range. Same thing with Pirate Cruise. If she's going with your 5 year old I think that would save her the "embarrassment" thing, and she would really have a good time once she got into the Tea Party.

My 10 year old did the pirate cruise. What would be really nice if you don't mind splurging is the my disney girl tea party and you can go enjoy it with them. My dd 6 and my dn 4 loved it but there was alot of older girls there with their mothers and the age limit there is 11.

If I were to book the Pirate Cruise for both of them and then just take my 5 year old DD to the Wonderland Tea Party (I did look at the info on the Princess Tea Party. I don't think 10 DD would enjoy it.), what other special activity could I do for just the older one?
Looking at the info on Deb's site, 10 is the cut off for a lot of the kids' activites but from some of the searches on this board it seems that most of the ones that participate are on the younger end, 4-7. Anyone with 10/11 yo DDs, I'd appreciate any ideas.

I have no personal experience, but I think that the GF has a "first spa experience" for kids. You and older dd could go to the spa. You could also take her to tea at the GF as a special mother/daughter time.

If you want something for them to do together, instead of sending younger dd to the Wonderland Tea, you could do the Family Magic Tour at MK all together. My dd was 10 and ds was turning 5 last year when we did this. They both had a great time!

I think that my dd would have enjoyed the tea party if she had a younger sibling to go with when she was 10. Can you describe it to her and see what she thinks or are you trying to keep it a surprise?

During our trip in August '03, my daughter was 10 at the time and did all of the Grand Floridian programs (Pirates Cruise, Wonderland Tea Party and Adventures in Cooking). She enjoyed all three, particularly the Adventures in Cooking and Wonderland Tea Party.

During our trip last summer, she had just turned 11 and was too old for the Grand Floridian programs.

I wish WDW would implement a tween program at one of the deluxe resorts.

I may not be the one to ask but so much of Disney is timeless. Lets be honest it is not our children who spend countless hours on the DIS!!!!!!!!!
It is us adults talking nothing but Disney. Take her and share a magical moment. She is the age where she will no doubt remember everything. How wonderful to share. None of her friends will be there so she can really be herself and enjoy being a kid.

For your 10 year old, what about looking into the GF spa? They have mini facials, manicures and pedicures for ages 12 and under. I don't know the cost but I remember seeing it on the wdw site.

I know you're talking about DD and I'm responding from the point of my DSs. I agree that if your DD was a little 'embarrassed' to be there that being with her little sister would ease it. My DS (8) was a great comfort for my DS (5) at the Tea Party. I really thought DS #2 would have no problem - but he did and it helped him to have big brother there. Neither boy wants to do the Tea Party. Just not their cup of tea.
On the other hand - they loved the Pirate Cruise. We haven't tried to book it yet - but we did book the Albatross Treasure Hunt that leaves from the Yacht Club marina and puts in at various locations around Epcot (before it opens to the public). We're going to ask them about the Pirate Cruise or the cooking adventure - does any one have feed back on the cooking activity? The boys will be 9 and 6 this year when we go.

my dd6 and dn4 didn the manicure and pedicure at the ssr and loved I plan on letting her do the facial before long she cant wait to go back. I believe it was 60 for the manicure and pedicure.

I would think it depends on the personality of your 10 year old. My DD is 11 and I can tell between her & her classmates there is a distinct difference. For example, my DD is more on the "younger" side (she still plays with Barbies, likes CareBears, etc...) she would LOVE to do the tea, etc...

Then there are 11 year olds who wouldn't be caught dead with a Barbie in their posession at this point!

Since this will be the last year she's able to do this. She still plays with Pollies and AG dolls so she may enjoy this.
I'll have to figure out what to plan for our next visit. 12 will be a harder age to find activities. Maybe then I'll break down and do the spa actvities. I very rarely do spa treatments. I tend to treat myself to other things like my hobbies/obsessions (stamping, scrapbooking).
Please continue with the ideas. I have a couple more days to plan for and I'm sure there must be others planning a trip for a 10 yo DD.

I think you are correct! Sounds like she would enjoy it. I know I took my DD to AG place for her 10th birthday and did the meal & show there and she loved it (and would do it again in a heartbeat even still!). I would imagine the tea would be similar type of affair. My DD *just* turned 11 in March so unfortunately for us that bumped her right on out of a lot of the activities which I know she would still enjoy.
