I work out of an office of 37 women about 90 minutes away from Orlando. My co-workers have started taking day trips via charter bus every month or so. For example, this month they are going to a craft fair in Mt Dora.

We were kicking around the idea of going to ICE! at Gaylord Palms in December, until we noticed that it will be Shrekified. Now many of the ladies think it will be less beautiful and more childish and commercial.

So, now they are thinking of going to see the living Christmas Tree choir instead.

Any thoughts?

I think it will be different, but still good. I also love the live Christmas music and the Christmas shop and all of the decorations...

Ewwww ...I was just commenting on how I wanted to see ICE if I could ever make it to Disney for Christmas. If that big green thing is going to be there, I don't care to see it.

I live in Memphis, TN and the closest Gaylord to me is The Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. The "ICE!" events have been held there for several years now and they've always had a licensed character theme each year. One year, it was the Grinch. Another year it was "The Year Without Santa" and last year, it was "A Charlie Brown Christmas." We've been to a few of them (usually because we were already in town for a Preds hockey game) and they've been fun. But at $25 per adult for a 15-minute walk-through, I think the commercialism is fully intact no matter what the theme is. I think I'd see Shrek, too.

I think it's great that Gaylord will have a fun theme for this years ICE! Shrek, and all the other DreamWorks movies, are so much fun, and will offer adults and kids a great experience. I for one, can't wait!
