do you think of your hotel switch as an extension or a separate trip?

Ive stayed at Pop twice before - Fri-Sun before switching to BCV.
Ive always thought of it as "a place to get through" before the real vacation begins. It was a short time so never really settled in. Kept everything in their suitcases/bags/etc.

This time Im staying 4 nights at Pop, 4 nights at Coronado before my 5 nights at BCV. Think I may look at each resort as a mini-vacation instead of just an "add on/place to get through". Look at the pluses at each resort, etc.

So those who have switched hotels - do you think of them as separate vacations or "something to get through"?

Years ago took a weeklong trip through the White Mtns, it was a was a 3 hotel stop, kinda made a triangle. I remember each stop for what they each had to offer. It was fun travelling w/my then 4 yr old.

When DH and I book 2 separate resorts (for a trip longer than 8-9 days), we purposely choose two entirely different resorts (in our case, the DVC ones), so that we get the "two-vacations-in-one" feeling. We don't find the switch to be a hassle at all, although others do. :goodvibes
To us, it feels like we're embarking on a new adventure. :thumbsup2

We are doing are first split stay in May_POR & Poly. I'm looking at it like two trips even though POR is only 2 nights. We love both resorts so I'm looking at it like I'm getting the best of both worlds!

I always think of it as two vacations . . . particularly since I try to pick very different resorts and resort areas and plan to go to different parks and activities while at each. I can't remember the last time we had just one resort -- I think it was only a 4 day/3 night trip. If we go for 6 nights or longer, as is usual, we split the stay and it makes the trip more fun for us.

Last time we went to WDW was the first time we split our stay into different resorts -- 7 days at the Poly and 7 days at CBR. We enjoyed the Poly but were looking very much to our real vacation to begin at CBR.

Did I mention that our family reunion was taking place at the Poly during the first week? :rolleyes1

To me it is like 2 different vacations. Different hotel, different room, different feel. On my last trip we did 4 nights at the BWI and 4 nights at AKL.

I feel like it's a new adventure. I've only stayed with one resort when we've had a short vacation, like 3 or 4 days. Otherwise, I always like to switch because I like my resort being super close to the parks I want to visit, like staying at GF when we have a couple days to spend at MK, and then 3-4 days at BWI when we switch over and concentrate on Epcot and MGM, then end up at AKL for a few days to explore AK. I don't know, somehow staying at the resort approximate to the park makes the resort seem park of the park-experience, too.
