I was ordering some cream from a natural product kind of website when I saw some CD's for sale.

They were various self help CD's - i.e overcome phobias, build self confidence.

Anyway - there was one for getting over your fear of roller coasters. Now I'm a big baby when it comes to these. I can just about manage splash mountain as it's one drop at the end but even Barnstormer made me sick with nerves! :rotfl:

I would soooo like to be able to join in all the fun that everyone else in the family has - so do you think these would work? Has anyone tried something like this and what were you opinions?

They were all £7.95 so not extortionate but if they're a load of rubbish that's still £7.95 down the swanny! :confused3

Janet, I was exactly the same, I used to close my eyes on Goofy's Barnstormer too, and I actually think the worry about going on these rides is a lot worse than the actual ride is

I think the thing that conquererd my fears was riding RockNRollerCoaster, I was so nervous, but I decided to go on (we got the girls to wait at the ride exit) and when I realised how much I enjoyed it, we all went straight back on

Now my favourite is The Hulk and Duelling Dragons, and I can't believe that when the girls were 10 and under how scared I was of these rides

So, as for the CD, it's only £7.95, so give it a go :wizard: Good luck

I'd love one of these that works!! I have tried by actually going on the rides to help...Hulk etc, but it just makes me feel worse. I get really nervous about rides I've never been on especially if I cannot see them.

I'm such a scaredy cat

At the end of the day if you start off by thinking it might work then it probably has a greater chance of doing so.
When I was in the army I used to do all sorts of things such as parachuting, abseiling and bungee jumping and with each one we were told the same thing. Fear is a perfectly natural response to a situation where you feel you may be in danger, and it's those people that aren't scared that have the problem :goodvibes
To help us combat any fear we had they would tell us that we needed to have confidence in our training and confidence in the equipment we were using (e.g. the parachute). I know you don't have training for riding a coaster but I do think that having confidence in the design, build quality and safety features will help when it comes to finally giving it a go.
Good luck and I really hope it works for you.

Janet, I am exactly like Mandy, its all the build up that freaks me right out, once I am on the ride I usually love it and want to go again!! My first "proper" coaster was The Hulk, I drove myself and Ian nuts in the line, conviced that I was going to fall out, but I loved it. I am building myself up to do Harry Potter in March..

For £7.95 I really think its worth a try for you, and I hope it works for you ..

Right I think I'll give it a go.

I don't have a fear of falling out or the machine breaking etc it's the actual feeling of your stomach leaping up into your throat that just freaks me out. :confused3

If my stomach didn't move I'd be fine - I love speed but it's the up and down that I don't like. I don't even like bouncy castles or going high in swings so this CD will have to be very good......:rotfl2:
