Do you think it will be hard to get a BWV studio in May at the 7 month mark?

Hi...I'm torn...As of now I have a SV studio booked at AKV next May 3-12 for our annniversary trip and are on a waitlist for a concierge studio if one pops up..I really would love to stay at BWV for our anniversary because we were married there and I think the resort would be a fun environment...

The plus to staying at AKV,for me, is the resort busses because they only go there and no other resorts.

How is transportation at BWV??? Where would you rather stay??

We changed our AKV studio at the 7 month mark for our Sept. trip. I had no problem, but I did call day by day. With the new booking policy you won't have to do that. We are going without our children so we wanted to be close to Epcot and the fun of the Boardwalk. I was able to snag the value studio, like the low points.

Oh I really hope we can get in there..should I call and go on a waitlist now for BWV???

You can't waitlist before the 7 month mark, but I think you'll be OK to get the booking at 7 months!

rwc:)

Two years ago, I had to change my reservation at 7 months out and we were able to get all our dates except for one at BWV. We waitlisted the last day and it came through within a few weeks. We were so surprised.

However, we did find that we were not that happy with our room. We had never stayed there before and it was just in dire need of repair and update. (long story) - sorry OT.

But, I think you have a good chance in getting a room. By the way, our room was a 1 bedroom (which I think is more difficult to get) and we were still able to get it. I was told that May is not a very busy time.:confused3

We got VWL at the 7 month mark, then decided to see if we could switch to BWV. We were able to get a 1 bdrm. preferred view at BWV (for July) at the 5 month window. Good luck! :goodvibes

Last May we got a BWV studio at the one month mark ! If you call at seven months I think you will be successful.

The buses from BWV tend to take longer as they do the route through BWV, BCV, Swan, Dolphin etc etc

OP, you should be OK at the 7 month mark. While getting a standard view or BW view probably won't happen, you should be OK to get a preferred view (which they have the most of). I've booked there for family less than 7 months for May and it's never been a problem. Your window to call is probably not until October (I'm guessing).

Where would you rather stay for your 1 year anniversary trip??? AKL or BWV.....I keep seeing bad things on here about AKL so I am a little nervous to try it but I was excited to try it before reading all the negative. I know I should not think like that,I can't help it lol.

I really think I will like BWV better...I love the idea of being close to DHS and Epcot and I mean we got married there so it is a special place for the both of us.

If you're going for your honeymoon, I think AKV concierge would be the best. I also think AKV is a bit more romantic, even though you were married there and have good memories. Now the flip side of that would be getting the standard studio for less points. that would be sweet. And for the record, I have usually been able to get a standard view when I called first thing, the day of the 7 month mark.

I am guessing since you newlyweds just bought in, you got an extra years points. (2007 points to use I mean) In that case, again I would splurge and try and get that concierge room - but thats just me! Have fun planning & obsessing, thats half the fun. ;)

I don't think I would let the negative posts deter you if you want to stay at AKV. Over the years, the new resorts seem to go through some growing pains and negative posts abound. There are quite a few positive posts as well.

I haven't stayed at AKV so I really can't give specifics but I know our family will wait until the construction is over. I know that I get bugged by stuff being incomplete.....but that is just me.

You say you got married at BWV...did you stay there as well? We love it at BWV's. The walking to Epcot and DHS can't be beat, especially when we are there without kids!!!

Well for a concierge studio at AKL it is only 167 points so that isn't bad....for the BWV preferred studio it would only be 146 so that is good too.

Oh and yeah we do have extra points because we got the extra points for SSR so in October we are using thier points.

No we didn't...we stayed at the POLY....I'm leaning towards BWV right now. it just seems like an awesome place to stay.I know I would love it. The pool looks like fun.

So did you like the transportation there? how long are the walks..I don't mind walking at all so I'm sure Iwould enjoy the walks.

We really like BWV's. There is always something going on. Love that the quiet pool is right around the corner from the feature pool. You can easily switch between depending on what your preference is.

We did find the transportation frustrating because of the multiple bus stops. It just seemed like such a long ride. We started getting off at the Swan/Dolphin stop and walking back. If we were heading to MK, we usually spent some time at epcot first and then took the monorail to MK. The walk to DHS is a little bit longer but enjoyable by the water. As well, you can take a boat to either DHS or Epcot. Slow going but enjoyable.

I think you will love either resort. Remember you have many years to experience all of them. As you can see from my signature, we like to move around and have found something to love in every resort (except I think BCV's, it was nice but we really preferred BWV's)

Have fun choosing !

So what resort do they pick up last to go to the parks....would it be quicker to just walk over to that resort and hop on the bus there?

How long do you think it takes to stop at all the other resorts?

Especially, for a couple, there is so much to enjoy in the BW area:lovestruc

Know that i've tried to book BWV several months before the 7 month window for both June, Oct. & Dec. and wasn't able to get a studio-any view; although there were many of the dates available, just not the whole week.

I'd try it, of course; we want to try most of the DVCs;)

I like the boat service (relaxing decompression time imo).

I don't like the bus service, we never seem to hit it right there:confused3

Sorry, i can't remember the order. I'm sure someone else will be able to help. Last time we actually had a rental car and didn't use the buses.

:bride: Hi Lynn, first I have to say this: your wedding was beautiful and you made such a beautiful bride:bride: I would love to have a vow renewal in that same spot!

Ok, now to help you! We are owners at BWV and love this resort! The walk to Epcot is 5 min and to DHS is about 15-20 (for us, but we are a little older than you;) )

The bus to AK is last to pick up at BWV (S&D, Y&B, then BWV)

The bus to MK only stops at S&D after BWV stop. The Y&B are a seperate bus for MK.

Downtown Disney is the same as AK bus rotation.

We have also stayed at AKV this past May. It is also a wonderful resort, we had absolutely no problems in our 8 night stay. I will say the the Savanah view concierge rooms do not have a very good savanah view. They are back in a corner of the building with not a lot of view of the animals. The rooms at the middle-end of the buildings have better views than the rooms closer to the lobby on the sunset savanah.

Personally, if it were me, having stayed at both and knowing you were just married at BWV, I would stay at the BWV and know that you will have many, many yrs of owner ship at AKV!:goodvibes

Let us know what you go with!
