We are going to Legoland for one day during our trip. Do you think it would be cheaper to rent a car or get a taxi? Also, what do I do about the kids not having a car seat? They are 6 and 7.

According to Taxi Fare Finder Orlando, the roundtrip taxi fare from Disney's Boardwalk (2101 Epcot Resorts Blvd, Orlando, FL 32836) to Legoland Florida (1 Legoland Way, Winter Haven, FL 33884-2100) would be around $230.
You should be able to rent a car for much less than that.
Most car rental companies provide the option to rent car seats along with the car.
You wrote that your children are 6 and 7, but you didn't mention their height or weight.
According to Child Car Seat Requirements:
Florida law requires children under 5 years of age to be properly restrained no matter where they are seated in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier (child safety seat) or in a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children ages 4 - 5, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. If a safety belt does not fit the child correctly, a booster set should be used to correctly position the lap and shoulder belts once they outgrow forward facing child safety seats (generally at about 40 pounds and 4 years old). Children from approximately 40-80 pounds and under 4'9" in height should ride in a booster seat.
Infants must ride rear-facing until they are at least one year old and weigh 20 pounds or more. Rear-facing, the infant should be semi-upright at an angle or no more than 45 degrees. A forward-facing older child should ride sitting upright.
Never place a child in a child safety seat in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with a passenger air bag. Always use the back seat.
Violation of the child restraint law carries a fine of $60 and 3 points on the driving record.
I would call Mears - they have the buses that pick up people from Disney hotels to go to Universal - you won't see Disney advertising it but it does happen - and it is all through Mears.
knowing where Legoland is in Winter Haven its going to be at least a 30 minute ride. once you get into Winter Haven the area before legoland is a business area and there are lot of trafficlights. I would go with renting a car.
Atleast the road we used getting to out skirts of Winter Haven is also traffic lights.
Legoland is on the land that was once Cypress Gardens.
My memory is it was an interview with a Legoland representative. Maybe Orlando Sentimental online?
Just go to legoland's website and use the contact us tab.
They are offering vacation packages. Most of the hotels are in Winter Haven but the Nick Hotel and Champions Gate are included. I suspect if Legoland is offering a vacation package transportation from the hotel to Legoland is likely.
