Do you think Disney will ever send out e-mail confirmations for ADRs?

We go to WDW once every other year about. I pretty much plan our meals around park days, shows, etc.. So, I'm the one that will call 180 days to get all her ADRs. So, on our last trip over the New Year holiday in 2006/2007. Two of my ADRs were wrong. One was for a day after we were checking out at the California Grill and the 2nd one was for the wrong time by several hours. Of course, we had to cancel California Grill and go without. I think, we ended up at Artist Point. The 2nd one we had to go at the new time. However, we would have missed the reservation completly if I had not had the hotel print out our ADRs...

So, for most recent trip, they screwed up again... This time we had reservations for Fantasmic at Hollywood Brown Derby but when I showed up it was for Hollywood & Vine. I know, I reconfirmed with the CM on the phone when I made the reservation that I wanted Hollywood Brown Derby. I figured I checked once I don't need to call back. As it was I was calling daily as we were staying offsite. I of course, cancelled Hollywood & Vine. We did get to eat at my favorite restaruant but not as the Fantasmic package.

I think, it would just be easy to have some sort of confirmation sent to your e-mail. This way you would know if it got cancelled, rescheduled, etc.. It is frustrating to plan your trip around meals but then, be disappointed because someone may have typed in the wrong code or misunderstood you.

Ooh, that's a good idea!

I actually hope someday to just be able to make adr's on-line.

Really they should do this. What is the point of taking all the ADR's and then having at least 20% of the people forget the time or location or whatever. All it does is fill up Disney restaurants with reservations and then they turn people away. I've been in many fully booked restaurants with only half the restaurant seated for my whole meal. I would really appreciate a way to check on the times and dates and have it all printed in one place.

Yeah, email confirmations would be great. On my upcoming trip, I was trying to make a reservation for the Spirit of Aloha dinner (luau) I know I said it to the CM twice, and I made a point of saying the day of week as well as the month and date, and somehow the CM looked up and almost booked Hoop de doo Revue for a completely different date. :confused3 Don't know how she got that. She even said she knew that wasn't what I asked for.

I think it just a case of hearing one thing and doing another. We all make mistakes.

Best thing to probably do is call back after you hang up to confirm your ressies. It's a drag, but it would be worse if they got something wrong and it's too late to change.

What I would like to see is that only people with on property reservations can go online to book, and everything would be linked to your resort reservation, so that when you pulled up your reservation, all the ADR's would also be listed. You would just need to print one piece of paper to bring with you for check in at both your resort and for your dining.

I don't think they should open up the online booking to off property or locals (and I'm a local). I think those should still be made by phone, and I think they should give on property guests a bigger head start on making reservations than 180+10. Maybe allow the online system to make ressies 180 days out and the off property phone ressies only 90 days out. I've seen so many posts where people with the dining plan were having some difficulty with TS ADR's, and the system should be organized in a way that the on property guests have a better shot at getting what they need. It's less of a problem for someone paying OOP to go to CS instead of TS spur of the moment than it is a DDP guest. This could be touted as another "perk" of staying onsite that really wouldn't cost Disney much money at all. I think offering email confirmations for the phone reservations would be a great idea too.

The new system that should be going into effect soon will be tied to your resort reservations

Great ideas!

I believe they are working on an online system.

Sweet! Thanks for the info!

Fla4Fun, I agree. I think a larger opening for on-site guests would be an excellent perk, and help clear up so many issues with the DDP and the difficulty of getting reservations. I don't use the DDP, but still feel frustrated at the window that is so large and long and difficult to get the reservations we want.

I had this problem, when I was booking for NYE, I asked a simple question about what time lunch started at Hollywood & Vine on NYE. Well I then went to make the ADR and I asked for 12:00 (lunch started at 11:40) and he goes and gives me a confirmation number and at the end I asked him to confirm all my ADRs and my H&V was for 11:00. Which make me a little sad, but then I guess if we show up at 11, we'll get seated a little late and get to have both breakfast and lunch.

As others have stated, the online system starts soon. I'm not sure if you'll get e-mail confirmations with it but at least you can get something in writing.

I'm surprised at all the errors though. At the end of each call I have made, after they have given me confirmation numbers, the CMs have always repeated back all the ADR info to me. It has never been incorrect. Also, before you leave for your trip, you should ALWAYS call Disney Dining to confirm your ADRs.
