If you can still hear it with your television on its normal volume level? It's mainly the bass, but without the TV on I can sometimes hear the entire song (like the singing too). It happens every Saturday evening and sometimes other days as well.

I don't want to be picky and complain about it because she usually does turn it down or off by quiet hours. It's just that with my migraines it can be a little frustrating.

Are you in an apartment? And yes that would bug me.

Yes, it's the neighbor above us. We don't hear a peep out of the ones on either side of us.. Just the woman upstairs.

I HATE bass. Did it just start recently? Try talking to your neighbor and invite her in to hear what it sounds like. She definitely needs to turn the bass down if it bothers you. I live in a house and a neighbor and his son across the street 2 houses down from ours would be working on their car with the radio on and the bass up. I had to complain to them a couple of times and they finally turned it down. I invited them to come into my house so they could hear it but they just turned it down. No more problems after that.

It's been going on since she moved in about two months after us. Problem is she's become friends with one of the leasing managers, so the leasing manager moved into the apartment next to hers upstairs. If she doesn't find it a problem and she's closer to it, it's going to make me look like a nag.

I guess if it does continue being really frustrating that your suggestion is the best bet. I just hate being confrontational.

that's not necessarily true... i can't hear my neighbors to the side, but i could hear my upstairs neighbors clearly. she may have no idea.

I'd also suggest talking to the neighbor (calmly) and letting her know about your migraines. As a migraine sufferer too, I know how important it is to avoid any triggers. Your health is too important and hopefully the neighbor will understand.

Good luck! :)

Thank you guys for the advice. The music actually went back on at 4:30am this morning so I called in a complaint to the property management company. They told me next time to press a different prompt and leave a message for a courtesy officer and they'll go and say they were walking by and heard it so nobody knows who actually complained.

I lived in a town house and had loud music to the right and left of it. I drove me crazy. I spoke with both neighbors, one was cooperative and the other wasn't. I eventually move to a house with room on all sides. I feel for you.

My neighbors play the most inappropriate music super loud! It drives me insane! I have to regularly combat it with Disney Pandora. We are in a 2 family unit we have 4 bedrooms they have a studio in the back (right next to my kitchen).

We've had this problem before and let's just say that I'm glad to be out orf apartments. Not that houses are perfect of course.

I wish you good luck with this. The lady might not know.

I live in a fourplex with horrible sound proofing. I can hear the downstairs neighbor's music and tv often as loudly as I can hear as my own music/tv. They have a lot of kids, too, and they're not quiet. It's sort of to be expected--we have 2 people in our 3br unit vs 7 in theirs (4 of them under age 10). I invested in a fan for white noise. I don't want to complain--they're loud, but we're all cooped up and I don't want to be "that" neighbor. I think we might move in the summer, otherwise I'd get some blue tooth headphones for the living room tv and the home theater room.

Now, if the noise were at 4:30 in the morning, I would complain, at first in person to the neighbor, but if my request for quiet was ignored, I'd call the landlord or police.

I do consider this a problem that is just a part of apartment living. If we do move back to the lower 48, I think we'll buy a house. I wouldn't even consider a duplex (or "twin home" as they seem to be called in the area we're thinking of) after our experience here.

Well 430am would bother me but during the day or evening I wouldn't have a problem. People next to me are always outside working on their cars and they have the music blasting, even when I sit outside in my backyard the house behind me has an outdoor music system that is on every time they are out there. Unfortunatly we don't have the same taste in music- they always have on bubble gum pop and I am more into Kiss, Ozzy etc so I just bring my own music out and listen to it when I am out there. Alls fair until 11pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends around here- then its quiet time! I think I prefer the bass of music to the people around the block working on some racecar- that revving engine sound drives me nuts-but its not illegal. Unless its illegal then there is no use complaining about it.

I can relate to this but I live in a house. My next door neighbors play their music so loud I can hear the song in my house. Not necessarily the words or bass but the general tune and almost the words. My bedroom is on their side of the house so I go to sleep every night around 11:00 listening to their music. They listen like that all weekend and every night.

One day I was out getting my mail and they opened their front door. The music was so loud from across the street where my mailbox is....well let's just say I don't understand how they're not deaf.
