A long standing tradition for our family has been to visit Mickey in Toontown to specifically tell him THANK YOU for our wonderful time... No matter how long the line is to get to him (crazy long lines at WDW, it wasn't so bad at DL), I feel it's important for our children to express gratitude for their experience. The handlers always seem so 'in awe' that our family does this. Is this unusual?

Also, on this trip (it was our first to DisneyLAND), we stopped in front of Walt Disney's apartment and said "Thank you Mr. Disney!" to the light left on in the window. (Supposedly when he was in the parks, he sat at that window and enjoyed looking at all the happy visitors coming and going.) It is so amazing how Mr. Disney's spirit is all over that place....

That is fabulous! If you don't min, I'd love to make sure dd and I give Mickey a big Thank You next time we go.

great idea.......... I get so excited to see him , I can't even talk!:cutie:

what an AMAZING idea!

can i steal it?

i always make a big effort to thank the characters for stopping and signing and having a pic - we know that it is their job but they seem so happy when a person makes an effort to say thank you - i think a lot of people don't do it.

as my Dad always says: 'Manners go a long way.' :)

While I think this is a cute idea, the person they need to thank first would be YOU for dishing out the thousands of dollars to get them there in the first place. :)

i've said a LOT of things to Mickey.. most of which can't be repeated on this board.

LOL actually I have thanked Mickey for making my vacation extremely wonderful. I didnt see him in TT though, I saw him in DCA in the backlot.

Cute idea! We don't really get in line for characters anymore. My son is almost 10 and would rather be on the rides. If we see one and the line isn't bad we'll grab a quick picture.

When he was smaller we would get in those long lines, or do Character breakfasts. But we never thought to thank Mickey! That's really cute! My son happened to see my planning paper the other day with all my costs for our upcoming trip, he thanked me because he never realized how much it costs to go to DL! :)

My kids Thank us for every trip, they are already Thanking us for our upcoming trip in April. LOL 16 days. woo hoo!!!!
Every time we meet a character we say Thank You, whether it's at a character meal and we thank them for stopping at our table, in the parks where we are in line or just walking around and the characters start playing with them, they always say Thank You when our turn is over or we leave. Thank You's are big in our house, we all pass them out freely.
