Do you take SLEEPING PILLS?

A few years ago I had just a terrible time sleeping. My doctor prescribed me some Xanax that helped. Xanax turned out to be very addicting. I slept better but when I tried to get off them I have even worse sleeping problems, so had to get back on the pills. Now I am off the Xanax but am taking Lunesta to sleep. Will I ever be able to get off prescription drugs to sleep again?

Give me some feedback and hope.

No, but I do take Mirapex for restless leg syndrome, and I finally CAN sleep for the first time in years. Sleep is not optional in life. We gotta do what we gotta do. Good luck. :)

I take Melatonin. Can be found in the vitamin section of most stores. It's incredible and gives me a great sleeping pattern with little to no waking up in the middle of the night.

What do you think of the Lunesta? Once I am asleep I sleep fine. It's getting to that point... ambien does nothing, the Lunesta doesn't seem to work either. So when needed 1-2x a week or less, I take a .25 of xanax.

I just do not get sleepy even tho I constantly feel exausted.

I just take the generic sleeping pills for Target every now and then. I usually take one an hour before I want to go to sleep and it gradually makes me sleepier.

I think they are the same drug that's in Benadryl? Diphendrime or something like that.

OTC sleeping meds give me anxiety (bad) and jitters... and I am wide awake :( for hours... Oh man talk about lame!!

My mom, sister and son are the same way....

I take Benedryl almost every night to sleep. Usually, it works, but every once in awhile it doesn't. Then I take a Trazadone. I've used Ambien and it works wonderful for me, but I'm a little afraid of it because it's addictive.

I will sometimes take Tylenol PM, especially if my legs are bothering me.

I occasionally take a tylenol simply sleep (only need 1) if I need to get to bed and cant fall asleep.

I recently started taking Ambien CR (controlled release)...it was just approved by the FDA. Works great. I have been taking sleep aids for several years under a doctors approval. Chronic insomnia...the only time I can remember sleeping is basic training. I personally think the pills are better than taking a drink every night.

When I am experiencing a period of high anxiety I will take a Xanax to sleep. We have several family members with health problems and sometimes it seems that I am the only glue holding it all together. Occasionally it becomes too much and I go into a period of depression(I'm on a great anti-depressant.) I find that just getting adequate sleep can make or break it for me.

Me too(Benadryl) and like Bashful2 it almost always works. The rare times that it doesn't I take a Xanax.
