I never use them anymore unless I want to watch an old home movie. Once I get around to it, I am going to hook up a vcr to my computer and stop backing up my old VHS tapes.

To record shows, I use TiVo. To watch movies, I use my PS3 which is DVD/Blu-ray

My DW has some 50+ Disney VHS movies and cartoons not to mention the regular movies we've collected over the years. We are not about to trash the VHS

I don't have a vcr hooked up because ours are so bulky. I WOULD use it if I had one ready to go. We have a TON of movies on VCR and even though our DVD collection is growing, I wouldn't buy the DVD of what we already have in VCR unless it was a super excellent movie.

We have one that works, one in a box new for later and several tapes. DS hauls this along on vacations for the rental houses. There are usually video tape libraries but the VCR's are a mess. I am working slowly at getting all the family video onto DVD. My brother did all the reel to reel of OLD family stuff as he is a videographer and has the professional equipment. He also took all the old pics -sepia-reunions-family photos and put them on DVD with some great music.

I also have the whole older Disney collection on VHS. I've never purchased any of them on DVD.

We still had our VCR hooked up until yesterday when we finally got a DVR!! Now we totally don't need it at all. We only used to use it to tape shows.:happytv:

My DD watches movies on the TV room's VCR. The one in the living room doesn't work. We have 2 DVRs and a DVD player for recording TV shows and playing movies.

My kids each have one in their rooms. They still have several vhs tapes that I don't care to repurchase on dvd. They aren't hooked up-they have to unhook the dvd player and hook that connection to the vcr to watch. They don't do it often, but they have the option if they want to watch a movie.

Some poor lady was in Walmart last week looking for a Christmas cassette to play in her car-we couldn't find one anywhere!

Yes, but it's about a million years old.:rotfl: Our library doesn't have a lot of children's DVDs yet so a lot of the stuff I check out for DS to watch is still on VHS.

Yes but it won't work with the digital converter hooked up to the tv.

Yes we use our DVD/VCR combo. Once in a blue moon we'll drag out an old movie (usually an old Disney movie) for our kids. I couldn't bring myself to trash some of my favorite old movies just so I could go buy new DVD's of the same thing.

Yep. We have three functioning VCRs in the house. Mostly my kids use them. Their older sister's Disney movies were all on VHS and I have no desire to spend the big bucks replacing them all on DVD. Everything new we buy is on DVD.

Not only do we use a VCR but we have 3 Beta machines!:scared1:

The British Museum of Natural History will be contacting you very shortly. ;)

Here we have 4 VHS machines ( 1 is still a mono version), 4 DVD, 1 DVDr, 1 VHS/TV combo (mono) and a futher 6 TVs ( 2 flat screens) and we only have the choice of 4 TV channels where we live..................yes thats 7 TVs and only 4 channels.............go figure :confused3

Same here. We do have a DVD player and use that too. I rarely buy any VHS tapes, we have so many. There are times I come across an anniversary edition, or something hard to find on VHS and I have to get it.

We have 1 VCR, 3 DVD players, and 2 DVRs. The VCR is connected to a tv for my DD to watch her tapes, mostly cartoons and older disney movies. The VCR and the tv it's connected to were gifts for my 16th birthday, so we've gotten almost two decades of use out of them. No compliants there! Everything we buy now is on DVD, unless I find a VHS tape for DD on ebay or at a yardsale for cheap.

We have a VCR left somewhere, but even if it still works, by the middle of next year, there probably won't be anything left for it to record, here. Of course, NTSC signals end on February 17, 2009, and sometime next year analog cable will likely be history here, as well.

We still have so many VHS tapes that we have to own a DVD/VHS combo. I didn't want to replace all the Disney tapes we have invested in, so I'll keep one around as long as it works (or they keep making VHS machines). Besides, DVDs haven't proven to be as indestructible as they were originally claimed to be. Then again, what is?

I remember our first VCR when I was a teen. Big and bulky! Our in-laws bought us a VCR/DVD combo last year which is pretty good for the kids but that meant yet another DVD player to add to the list LOL
