Do you stay at a Universal resort if you have a dog?

I'm starting to think this is my best option for having our pooch along. Normally, I would stay at POP at Disney with a deal like free dining; so, this is rather expensive for me to stay here. I don't want to kennel my dog anywhere overnight.

Looking and doing some searches it seems like there are rather poor pickins for okay places to stay with a dog. I have found places which seem to get very mixed reviews by trip advisor and other review sites. I'm not that choosy, but I do want to feel safe where I stay and I do want a clean place. It would be nice to have a hot breakfast included, too.

I have stayed at the Pacific Royal, but that has probably been like 10 years ago. We are not going to Universal except for a day or so. I wouldn't even stay here except for our dog.

Anyone have comments about your dog stay at Universal resorts?

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for a pet friendly place that you enjoyed there?

Our family has stayed at HRH with our dog a number of times. Whether you have 1 or 2 dogs in the room, you pay a one time fee of $25. You have to make sure the maid can get into the room to clean by putting him/her in a crate while the maid is in there or taking him/her for a walk. We generally take our dog over to the Universal Studios kennel for the day while we are at the parks and bring her back to the room with us at night. We have never had a problem.

I have not stayed with my dog at Universal but we did stay at Loew's Philadelphia this past winter with our 5 pound Yorkie for the first and last time. DH wanted to get away for a night and thought we would try taking our baby since Loews allows pets and we always see them during our many Loews stays. Plan was to use our $100 platinum credit for a nice dinner in the hotel restuarant. We left our room to check things out and our dog started barking and scratching and barking and scratching and barking and scratching and barking. We stood outside the door for a few minutes thinking she would stop but she didn't. We were on the pet floor at the end of the hallway but were still concerned about the other guests on the floor. So we ordered a lot food and drinks from room service!

Loews is wonderful for pets. They give you a welcome gift for the dog and stainless steel bowls. There was a non-refundable pet cleaning charge. I think it was $25. I do not know if it was per night or per stay.

I don't know where the pet floor locations are at RPR or PBH but at HRH the pets stay on the first floor. Very convenient location which is close to walking outside without getting on an elevator. We had problems with our room at HRH and the only place they could place us was on the pet floor. When walking to our room, we would hear some dogs barking but never when we were sleeping at night.

Good luck with your decision.

The hotel at celebration allows dogs. I dont remember what the deposit was but I do remember that I thought it was a little high. There rates were about the same as a moderate when we stayed. I think it is a Marriott but its on the lake and very nice.
