Hi:
Just wondering how powerful the bus fumes are in the OKW resort. Bus fumes will trigger my daughter to have a severe migraine. Are the buses running fairly frequently thru the resort and do they go near the guest rooms?

We thought if we decided to stay there to ask for a room near the water, but wondered if you could still smell the fumes while sitting outside on the balcony. We would drive to the parks. We love the look of the resort.

Thanks,

Deb.

Now THAT'S a new one! I don't remember smelling bus fumes anywhere but the bus stops. Then only thing the buses do cause is that squeeking brake sound. We always joke that it is a requirement that all Disney buses have squeeky brakes!

The buses at OKW do run through the resort rather than at a central bus location like VWL or BCV. We have never experienced a problem with smelling bus fumes, but my family is not sensitive to these smells so hopefully someone who is bothered by them can chime in more. I know that migraines can ruin someone's day so I hope you get the answers you need.:goodvibes

Last April we stayed in the Turtle pond area close to the bus stop. I didn't notice any problem with fumes as the exaust pipes on the busses go out of the top of the bus. We were at the end of the building by the circle. Perhaps a room farther away from the bus stop and turnaround would help with fumes and noise. Have fun.:)

I was in the closest room to the HH, corner room studio, busses stopping every-which-way for the 4 way stop right outside my room last Nov. Though it did take a couple of days to get use to the sounds of them stopping and starting (first few mornings it was hard to sleep in) I did not smell any exhaust fumes from any of the buses. But we also kept our windows closed and patio door shut. We had the air conditioning on and the fan above the beds moving slowly.

I think you will be OK. But with extra sensitivity, ask for a room that does not look at a roadway.

Now at the bus stops, I did smell some fumes. But I think we can all expect that.

Have a great trip.

To be on the safe side, I would avoid buildings 20, 21, 51 & 52 as the busses drive through through the parking areas of those buildings, so fumes may tend to accumulate near to the entry areas of the villas.

i stayed in bldg 49 and had no trouble. the buses didn't come down that far, so noise/fumes weren't an issue.

Thanks everyone, the fact that the fumes go out the top of the bus is a good thing I did not know that. But I think if we stay in a building away from the bus stops that the others have suggested will help. We will drive in our car to the parks so she does not have to wait at bus stops.

We stayed in a room facing a pond and didn't notice any fumes. The smell that got me was the marina area - the fuel smell was really strong in that area.

I've never noticed fumes at any of the resorts (BWV, OKW or SSR). However, we did ride a bus at OKW and sat in the back. We believe a seal had broken somewhere because the fumes were strong. That was the one and only time (as we've been stuck in the back many of times!).

If you decide to take the Dis transportation, sit up front or stand. Other than that, I've never noticed fumes at the stops or at the resort itself. DH's snooter is particularly sensitive and he's never mentioned it. That's a good thing. :goodvibes Department stores kill him. His eyes start watering and headaches start. Perfume, dyes, foot traffic stirring things up? Who knows...but I feel for you! Have a WONDERFUL trip!!! :thumbsup2

I've never noticed fumes at any of the resorts (BWV, OKW or SSR). .....

We stayed in a standard view studio at BWV a few years ago - room overlooked the front entrance. The smell of fumes was awful! My daughter has respiratory issues - requires oxygen - could not open the patio door or the smell would just drift in. Fortunately, we were just in that room one night, then moved on to our 1 bdrm. elsewhere in the resort.

they are worst if you are in your car and behind one of the buses.

that say - until a couple of years ago - they used a special formula for busy times - definitely less to no smell.

but when Sept came around back to the old one - very, very smelly.

this last Sept the buses did not smell. So I only think that Disney is going to their improved (at lease for my sinus) formula year round.

believe me that old formula was very, very smelly.

so no worries!
