My DD and I share, but DH doesn't. Although, no one would care if he did. As a PP mentioned the way it works in that house I shower in the morning and hang the towel to dry. DD showers in the evening and typically grabs by now dry towel. Truth be told, I hang 2 towels on our rack at the beginning of the week and wash them at the end. So, each one would have been used by both of us several times.

But my head is not laying where his butt was the night before :lmao: I have no idea where he rubbed what part of his towel.

But wouldn't wherever he rubbed the towel be shiny and clean since he just stepped out of the shower?

not clean enough to dry my face with!

It is always interesting with towel debates. Usually 2 distinct camps - a whatever camp and a not in this lifetime camp

Whatever works, not trying to change anyone's habits, just sharing quirky issues :)

Do people really only have one towel hanging in their bathroom? There is plenty of room to hang several towels in each of our bathrooms - no reason for everyone not to have thier own.:confused3 We reuse our towels, but we each have our own.

I'm also really curious. Do the people who share towels also keep only one toothbrush, one hairbrush, etc. in the bathroom?

Wow. You folks must wash a lot of towels!! I hate laundry too much for all that.

That's what I was gonna say...But I didn't want to sound like the only disgusting DISer...LOL
We reuse towels for at least a few days. We're clean when we use them, so as long as they get hung back up, it's all good. But we don't share them once they've been used. We each reuse our own towels.

My husband and I occasionally share a towel and we almost always share hairbrushes. Toothbrush? Absolutely not. That seems entirely different to me.

Not everyone lives in a big house. I live with my parents in a small apartment, we have one teeny tiny bathroom. There is actually enough space for only 1 bath towel, a smaller sized towel, and a couple of face towels. We all use the same towel, I never thought of it as a big deal. If I shower right after one of my parents, I'll grab a clean towel because I hate drying off with a damp towel, but if it's dry, I don't see the big deal. Maybe it's because my parents grew up in Russia, and things were much different there. They told me they used to have these vending machine type of things, with a cup in a little cabinet, and hte water would pour into this cup, and everyone would drink from the same cup. So I guess for them, sharing a towel is not a big deal, and that's how we were raised.

You're as clean as you're going to be when you come out of the shower, so I don't get the big deal. Then again, I'm rotating through hospitals now, so I figure I'm exposed to enough bacteria and other goodness that if I get sick, it's more likely from something at the hospital as opposed to a towel I share with my parents.

We share, and we are all healthy with great immune systems. Maybe because I've exposed us to all those germs by sharing towels...

Do we share, as in I take a shower and lay my towel out to dry and when dh takes his shower grabs my now damp towel and uses it to try off with....that would be a NO!!!

Do we grab what ever towel we want out of the linen closet, then yes we do share. Towels aren't color coded - purple mine, blue DH's, ect - like someone we know does.

Me too!

Yes we share towels.. I already have kid germs all over me.. what's a few more.

We don't share towels only because DH and I like different towels (I like them ultra fluffy and he does not). At hotels we grab the first dry towel we come upon--it doesn't gross me out at all for reasons others have posted (you are clean when you get out of a shower--and we share plenty of more intimate things).

Towels are washed once a week at my house. I will not spend the time, energy, or Earth's resources to launder them more than that.

Yes, we also share hairbrushes with each other. I do not share a toothbrush with DH (we use different sizes bristle strength)--the idea of that DOES gross me out a bit but I admit it is totally silly to be grossed out given that I kiss him and share drinks with him.

Yes, we share. We have one small bathroom with little space. The towel gets thrown in the wash every day or two. When we are sick, we don't share. We also share a hairbrush. I agree, the toothbrush thing is different, we all have our own.

bath towels, no, we hang up our own(and I use 2 - one for just my hair). I wash towels a couple times a week.

hand towels, yes. DD has her own bathroom, but DH and share a hand towel at the sink unless we are sick.

we do share combs and hair brushes.

oh no no no- no sharing toothbrushes! I used to have a boyfriend that would brush his teeth with MY tothbrush when he was over- and then that brush would go in the trash and I would have a new one that day because that is just to gross. We don't share hairbrushes or combs either- everyone has their own.

We all have our own toothbrushes. DD and I share a hairbrush. DH has his own hair stuff that I don't get involved in. It's a complex routine.
