You know what always gets me? The jumping ghosts behind the tombstones on the graveyard scene. I KNOW they are there... I KNOW they are coming... and yet I jump EVERY time!

My husband thinks it is hilarious :rotfl:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Reminds of the people who get in a pool and get upset when kids splash them.:confused3

Yea, tell me about it!:sad2:YES I scream....sometimes WITH the Scream Track and sometimes before it...if you don't like it too bad, I am having FUN and YOU ARE NOT!:rolleyes1If you don't like my screaming, do NOT go May 15-17th cause I WILL be screaming at HM and TOT/EE/BTMRR/and whatever else I go on and want to scream on.....:woohoo:

:thumbsup2I don't scream, but it doesn't bother me one bit when others do. Hey it's all part of the fun. Besides I guess have two young DS's and growing up with a LOUD mother of 8 makes me use to it...lmao:scared1:. We should all scream more and laugh even more. Enjoy what ever you do and the way you do it. Don't worry about anyone else. Have fun!!! :cool1:

I don't scream and don't like it when others do. I can't tell you how many times this has caused a little kid to start crying.

I don't. I would, but the lovely puberty fairy has taken away my screaming powers for now.

On my last trip I discovered why people always scream during the stretching room portion of haunted mansion. If you notice the CM tells everybody to gather in the center of the room, leaving a path on the outside of the group of people huddled in the middle. The CM then begins walking around the group looking for an unfortunate victim. When he/she picks a victim, when the lights go out and the thunder and lightning come into the room the CM grabs the unsuspecting person usually a female and a scream is born. :rotfl2:

I'm not a screamer and don't really like others screaming especially right near me-I have very sensitive ears and sometimes even take ear plugs to fireworks because of the loud noise. I know many others, especially kids who are scared of or don't like loud noises so I try to be considerate to others. However, I would never dream of saying anything to anyone let alone getting physical with someone who screams. I understand that it is helpful sometimes for the lil ones to let out a yelp and that sometimes people think that screaming is part of the fun. I figure to each his/her own-we're all there to have a good time.

What annoys me more is when someone screams through the whole ride when I'm on Space Mountain or Thunder Mountain. It takes the fun out of the ride. At least it fits in better with the HM theme. But I do think people should be considerate of the little kids in the room.

I don't scream but on one occasion, my grandma sure did. We were waiting in the room and there was a CM dressed as butler or something and he was just kinda standing there. my grandma had her back to him but we saw him walk up right behind her. The lights went out and right at the same time they came back on he put his hand on her shoulder. I never seen my grandma jump or scream like she did. I thought she was gong to swing her purse at him.

We don't have an issue with people screaming, however it can be a little annoying when people really overdo it. Thinking that because it's dark and they're in a crowd they can be as loud and obnoxious as they want.

Amen.

When my DS was 4 we went on spring break. Everywhere we went there were screaming packs of tweens. They screamed at things there was no reason to scream at. It made my child scared to go on everything for a while. I want kids to have fun. I understand that kids will be kids. But after a while - it got really obnoxious. Screaming on the bus was the point when I wanted to start hurting people. ;)

OMG I read that thread... people are nuts.

Anyway I don't personally scream but I think it's funny when people do. It was funny when my mom laughed like a witch real loud at the part and scared the crap out of my little brother in law. He was holding my hand and when my mom screamed he jumped and squeezed the heck out my hand. We all laughed, including little BIL.

It's just a joke when people do it, I don't think anybody means harm. Just part of the fun.

ETA..it can be annoying when people are obnoxious about it though.

The first time on the ride, my older brother took it upon himself to scream really loudly in the Stretching Room and grabbed me. Then in the doom buggies (he was put in his own behind us, by my mom, so that he would leave me alone) he reached over and banged on ours. During the whole trip he would whisper to me about "seeing the ghost" that hitchhikes with you. I was 8 at the time and he was 13 so this was really amusing to him. My mom was unamused. I was terrified. Now I can go on the HM like a big girl. (only took me till I was 23 :rotfl:) I still can't look at the hitchhikers though. My mom still asks me "Are you sure you'll be OK?" when I go to DL with her and was surprised to find out I went by myself on a solo trip.

This embarassing story is there to illustrate why I don't scream on the ride, out of a personal choice. I know how much the ride scared me as a kid, and while I don't think other kids are as sensitive as I was, you never know. I don't really mind the screaming when others do it now. It is mostly harmless. My brother was just being a jerk intentionally though, and when people are being obviously "AHH!- oh, haha I'm so funny!" I do find it tiresome. Also, my mom does the "..too find a way out...muhuhaha", which I do find kind of annoying because I don't need another narrator, we already have a ghost host:rolleyes1 , but whatever...

This is the only thing that really irks me. Genuine screaming/startled reactions are fine, but in DL all the time we get been there/done that bored teens who think it's a jolly time to be over the top about things. Their parent's just drop them off and they act like a bunch of idiots in the parks. Just because they have been on a ride 100 times doesn't mean it isn't someone else's first time. When I was younger I was always respectful of that.

BTW- My DH has said I'm the youngest curmudgeon he's ever met, always complaining about impolite youths.:upsidedow

For the most part, I do not mind when people scream or want to mimic the 'ghost host'. I'm glad they can get into it.. though the only time I don't really enjoy it is when there are little kids, who you can tell are already terrified, and they go ahead and do it anyway.

But what really gets me ticked (okay, not ticked :o), and I don't know why.. because it doesn't bother me when they get 'into the mood' on other rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Carousel of Progress etc.. is when people sing the entire length of Mickey's PhilharMagic as if they are on stage themselves.

I know, I'm a bad person :confused3

To answer your question, no, I never do it :p

Aw, I must be the only one who likes it when people scream in the stretching room! As long as they are not overly loud and theatrical about it, but really play it genuine. It DOES give me a creepy feeling, to me it adds to the atmosphere. And I have dragged scared little kids through that room, one of whom came out crying, so I know how that's not very fun, but it's a haunted house for goodness sake! If I didn't think they were tough enough to take a few screams or surprises, then I wouldn't take them on the ride.

Sometimes I let out a short little scream in the graveyard portion of the ride when the ghost jumps up from behind the gravestone. I know it's there, but I love the payoff of the delicious anticipation-- it's fun for me to play it up like I'm really scared, it gets me more into the spirit of the mansion. Like the episode of South Park when Cartman is riding through the mansion haunted ride and screaming and laughing at all the ghosts jumping out.

ETA: I have never had the experiences some of you have had, such as people screaming through that entire portion of the show, talking over the ghost host, screaming really loudly or obnoxiously on other rides. I think it's pretty obvious when someone is deliberately trying to be obnoxious, or just getting into the spirit of things. I've seen tons of the latter, and have never had even one experience of the former that I can recall. But I see that perhaps DL is a little worse in this regard than WDW? This may be because MOST of the local Orlando teens (and teens in other parts of the state) would rather skip over the Magic Kingdom in favor of riding the Incredible Hulk. But even with that theory, I can't recall any truly obnoxious behavior. Maybe I just have a higher tolerance level for these kinds of things! The only thing I have ever seen that I felt was truly obnoxious was parents screaming, not at rides, but at their crying and overstimulated children. Talk about grinding my teeth. Urrrghhh! That just always sets me on edge to witness. Yeah, I get it, you've lost your temper-- but your children are not the only ones who are forced to be an audience to your histrionics!

Yes, my BFF and I always scream there. Just a short one, but it's tradition!
