Do you scream in the Haunted Mansion Stretching Room?

Do you scream in the Stretching Room of the Haunted Mansion?

  • Yes! It is part of the fun!

  • No! It is rude!

  • I don't scream, but I don't have a problem if others do.

I posted this thread in the Disney online games, community board, but thought I would do a poll here.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2154664

After having an incident in the stretching room, I wanted to know how many people scream when the lights go out, the thunder and lightning strikes and you see a skeleton hanging from the ceiling.

We always figured this was part of the fun of this ride, as there is a scream in the soundtrack during this part of the ride.

After what happened, we are wondering if we did something wrong by screaming during this part.

No, I don't scream but have been in there when others have. I can't imagine what the problem could have been, unless a little child got really scared or something. :scared1: Like you said it is on the tape, so what does it matter if a few people add their own as well?

I don't but dh likes to add his fake scream in there and get a few laughs:rotfl: I could care less. I always feel bad for the kids with parents going in for the first time:scared1:my kids even were scared when the lights went down...now they don't care.

I don't, but if I did I would probably look around for any little kids first. :goodvibes

We do a little fun scream for funsies.

I don't scream. I never had a problem with those that do. But now I can't get my 5 yr old to ride and have to beg a CM to bypass the stretch room since the screaming is the only thing that scared her silly.I also kind of don't like it when people shriek in my ear.

We don't have an issue with people screaming, however it can be a little annoying when people really overdo it. Thinking that because it's dark and they're in a crowd they can be as loud and obnoxious as they want. :confused3

i don't scream, and have no problem with others screaming...but on our last trip we were with a group of teens (on both HM and ToT) who would give ear piercing shrieks the entire ride (on both rides) then laugh hystarically in between. it completely ruined the ride for both BF and myself :sad2::sad1:

Oh, now I can answer my 13 yr old son with Asperger's... Everytime he has gone on this, he asks and asks and asks me why people scream in there.... Honestly, this has become his favorite ride BUT he does hate the screaming - it's a noise issue for him.. But, now that I can tell him that it is on the soundtrack and people scream to add fun- I think he will accept that and understand it better.. Also, he will realize that he may want to put his headphones on before we get there if he knows that people will probably scream in there as it is part of the show ( He's 13 and well Mommy doesnt make sense all the time to him ya know- autistic or not) He thought people were screaming "just to annoy him."LOL ( If you have an asperger's child or know one you will probably get that chuckle). Ofcourse, I still cant explain to him why people break the rules and take flash pictures in there so if you see/hear a 13 yr old going on and on about all the rude people taking pictures, it's probably us.. But, maybe he will now stop going on and on about all the rude people who scream in the stretching room..

No, I don't scream, and I don't like when others scream or recite the narration over the Ghost Host...but I wouldn't think of punching someone for doing it either.

Yeah, it always scares me. I've been on the ride a million times but that scene ALWAYS scares me.

You have got to be kidding? What kind of incident? I do not scream, but certainly don't have an issue with others doing it.

I do a fake scream but never loud enough to disrupt others. I never scream during the ride but last trip there were teens who screamed throughout the ride.

I don't scream and everyone else's screaming scares my kids - I can't even get my ds7 to ride it anymore. Kids don't understand that people scream just for the fun of it - to them it means there is something scary going on in there. My cousin's dd4 throws up when she gets scared - the ride itself wouldn't scare her but the darkness along with adults screaming will be too much so we are going to have to skip it completely this time around.

If you are screaming because you are scared, then it is fine. if you are screaming because you think it is funny, I think you should think again. Many little kids in a close space don't understand why people are screaming so loud. I know my son has burst into tears from it (I now cover his ears because I know someone is going to do it). The screams from the soundtrack are no where near as loud as those from the people.

Now, with that said, I do think what that person did was wrong.

I don't scream but I'm not a screamer. I don't even scare easily. My DS13 has spent years trying to scare me but he hasn't been able to succeed. I oughta give him one just once to make him happy, I suppose. My kids don't scare easy either - I think it's in our blood.

I do get a kick out of the teenage girls who walk in there clinging to each other, I know they'll be the ones screaming.

OMG, I just read the thread linked to this one. That's a horrible thing to have happened to q. I don't think you did anything wrong because there is screaming already on the tape.

Ask the Cm by the handicap entrance if you can bypass the stretch room. We had to do that last time since all the screaming scared our 5 yr old. Funnily she isn't afraid of the mansion itself, just all the screaming.
