When we were at WDW in April we stayed at the Poly for 4 nites. We had usually stayed at FW cabins last 6 times. I told my daughter that I thought we were able to do as much in 4 days as compared to 7 at the cabins. We didn't spend time renting a car at the airport either and took Tiffany Towncar. Just curious if anyone else thought that they could get alot more done and have even more time to relax. Not to mention I didn't do any cooking! We did spend most of the time at the MK & Epcot though, maybe that was the reason. Any opinions?

In the past, with my family, I had stayed at Epcot-area resorts (Dolphin, BC, BWI), and the proximity to Epcot and Studios (my favorite parks) saved a ton of time compared to my trip last Dec, when I stayed at POR and spent all my time on buses (or so it felt)... so I don't know if it's the fact that you stayed at a Deluxe, necessarily... but the Epcot-area and Monorail resorts can save you a ton of time with their quick jaunts to two parks each.

I have stayed at ASM, CBR, AKL, and in Aug. BWI. I think you do save time in the deluxe resorts. In my opinion the bus service in the value, and mods are more crowded. In AKL 7/04, never waited more then 10 min for a bus, and never had to stand because of a crowded bus. The bus stations at the deluxe hotels are also larger, lots of seating, and more shaded.

Depends on where you want to spend your time and how long it will take to get there.

I definitely think staying in the deluxes saves you time. We have stayed 3 and 4 nights at the Swan/Dolphin, and still gotten in 4 parks with no problem during July. Right before Easter we stayed in a CR wing room, and we spent the vast majority of our time at MK, which had EMH every morning beginning at 7 a.m. That meant that we didn't have to wake up as early to get over to the park.

It may depend on your family dynamic. With small children it takes a lot of time to get them ready, plus you have diaper bags and strollers to deal with. Since we returned to the room for a nap every afternoon, staying in a deluxe was really worth it. The bus service from the deluxes was also very good.

Staying at the Poly saved us a ton of time over staying at the CBR. At the CBR I felt like all we did all day was wait for or ride a bus. Having the monorail at your doorstep definitely makes a big difference! We are staying at the BWI in August (minus the kids) and I can't wait to be able to walk to Epcot and MGM!

I think so.

We normally stay at the Poly because I like it & because of it's ease of getting to my 2 favorite parks via the monorail. Plus when we leave MGM we take the boat to Epcot, eat in the Land & then hop the monorail 'home'.

When we have to take the bus it is like a never ending wait to us because we never know when the bus is coming.

However when we take the bus back 'home' we always stake out 2 bus stops when available-the TTC & the Poly one this way which ever comes first we take & save some time.

Also we could watch the fireworks at the beach at Poly and not have to wait afterwards for any form of transportation when we were tired. From what I am reading about waiting for buses at some of the other resorts I think maybe the deluxes are the way to go. Sometimes it is the quality of the time spent rather than the quantity. I have always been a FW cabin person but going to the Poly for a shorter length of time was a real eye opener for me.
