Do you remember your first cordless phone?

I can't quite remember the brand, but the first cordless phone we ever had was at my step-dad's house. It was a very simple model (and it was white), and the reception wasn't that great, but I remember thinking how cool it was.

I have no idea of the brand either- but ours was the early 80's and the thing I liked about ours most was that for some reason my radio would pick up the signal and I could listen to my older sister's phone conversations- of course by the time I was ready to have conversations I didn't want overheard- I shared my discovery with my parents and they got better phones lol

I know we had to go through several phones to get one with good reception inside and out and in all rooms and I think it was a cheaper model that ended up working best.

Yeah. I broke it when I got mad at my ex-husband and threw it down the stairs. It hit the wall and smashed into several pieces. He's just lucky I didn't throw HIM down the stairs. :rotfl:

I have no idea what brand it was, but it was a wedding gift from my uncle and very pricey.

Oh man, you had to love those early days of reception. I remember many times, picking up the phone to make a call, and listening to our neighbors talk to somebody. Most of the time it was pretty boring, but once in a while, it got pretty good. :rotfl:

UGH! We had one when I was in high school. There's a college in the same town and somehow, these college students were able to pick up our reception on short wave radio or something. These guys scared the daylights out of me, threatening that they would find out where I lived and they just kept bothering me every time I made a phone call. I was afraid to tell my parents, so I would just start using the regular phone until summer when they left. They never came back and I forgot all about that until now.

I remember ours. It was a grey Cobra, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The anntena was at least 6 inches long and my mom was certain I was going to take someones eye out with it. And I remember it had an on/off switch that was an up and down button, again something at the time I thought was so cool.

I remember ours and how it had this antennae that when fully extended was about two feet long. And of course picking up other people's conversations. I once overheard my neighbor say that her cat was dying. Next time I saw her I had to act very surprised that the kitty was not doing so great. I also remember a later model that would pick up somebody's baby monitor.

It was in 1993, when my youngest got mobile. We recently replaced it. :cool1:

I proudly stay beyond the technology curve.

I used to hear my neighbors' conversations on my first cordless. It did not do me much good to listen because they spoke Russian.

I was the first of my friends to get a cordless phone and they actually would call me "cordless" because they could tell when I was using it vs. the the other phone I had.

It was a black monster made by Southwestern Bell that actually had a long antenna that extended like those you would see on a old radio or walkie talkie. I had to replace it when that antenna broke.
