Do you remember "View Master" ?

When I was a kid I used to use those small "View Masters" and the reels that came with it. I remember when I saw " 101 Dalmations" in the movie theater. My Mom bought me the View Master reels for that movie. It really kept the movie alive for me for many years.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could get scenes of WDW on those View Master reels ? Does something like this exist ?

My grandma gave me an old one out of her closet that had scenes from either WDW or DL - I can't remember which one.

I would bet you can find them on ebay.

I had a viewmaster projector when I was a kid. The pictures weren't in 3-D when you used the projector, but it was still nice to present a slideshow just like my dad did with the family photos. Unfortunately, the thing was made out of bakelite (a very early form of plastic) and was brittle. A little to brittle for a child. It didn't last very long.

I wonder what happened to all those viewmaster reels that I had?

Did you any of you remember that the restaurant East Side Mario's had their dessert menu on viewmasters? You passed around the viewer and got to see all the yummy desserts in 3-D.

ViewMaster's still exist -- DS just got one for Easter with disks from Blue's Clues (or Bob the Builder -- I forget which show now). I don't know about WDW "reels", but the toy itself can still be found in stores. :)

I still have my original viewmaster from when I was young!! I also have the reels, but I never had a WDW or DL reel!

I still have my ViewMaster, reels and projector. I do have some that were of DL (this was back in the '60's) ... specifically I remember having a 3-reel pack for "Adventureland." I would guess my collection dates back to the mid-60's.

I know about 5 years ago I was still buying viewmaster reels at places we visited like National Parks etc. My boys had kind of lost interest by the time we went to WDW so I didn't look while we were there.

My kids have 1 each, although they're not made like they used to be. It took my 4 y.o. about 1 hr to break his.

The 50's Primetime Cafe's Dessert menu is on a Viewmaster reel :p

I have my original View masters, actually were my older brothers! I gave my boys new reels for Xmas including Toy Story 2. We've had fun looking at my Sea World reels from the early 70's!

We have several for my daycare as well as many, many reels. I find them at garage sales. We even have one view master which is more of a projector type/flashlight thing. The kids enjoy them!

I like the big View-Master. :teeth:

I had a "talking" view master. Told you about what you were seeing (there was a little "record" on the back of the reel).

I've seen viewmasters and Disney movie reels at Kmart and Walmart!

We still have quite a few of them! If you are interested, try finding the older ones at yard sales as they are made better (where we got ours). DD4 still looks at them a lot and Santa brings reels in stockings.

I had a viewmaster. One of my very favorite reels (I sometimes wonder if it was my only one) was of the Jungle Cruise ride at DL (I'm sure that's where it was, this was long before WDW existed). That's a big reason why I like the Jungle Cruise attraction-nostalgic!

Dick Clarks American Bandstand Restaurant has the dessert menu on a View master as well.

I guess you are all talking about "wheel" Viewmasters.

My grandmother has the first generation ones which were a Pull Down type. It was my Mom's toy.. the card (similiar in size to a computer punchcard.. if you remember those!) .. are Top Cat. Yes, Top Cat ones..

My Grandmother could make a killing on Ebay with it!

I had a VM with DL and MM Club reels in the late 50's/early 60's.
They were awesome, esp. the MM Club stuff. Wish I had them now:(
