Spin off from the other tattoo post.

I have 3, butterfly on my ankle, dragonfly on my stomach and a really cool thing with my kids zodiac signs on my back.

I love them all and haven't regretted them for a second. I got the first one at 30 and then the next few within the next few years after that. When I got the first one I heard all the "you'll regret that blah blah blah". :confused3

Uh...no...only regret is that I forget the one on my back is there since I can't see it and that's my favorite one!

Nope not at all.

I have Merryweather on my ankle with my kids' names coming out of her wand in pixie dust.

Nope. Not one bit.
My first is almost 3 years old. Got it on vacation ;)
I had planned it for 10 years prior to getting it though.
My next one is a sea turtle with hibiscus flowers. I LOVE it. It is big and many people don't like it because it is soooo big.

I don't have any tattoos, but I immediately thought of my uncle. We all love him so, and my kids love to look at his tattoos and listen to his stories.

My uncle is 54 years old, and he has 4 tattoos (two on his upper arms and two on his chest) that he now regrets. He got them between the ages of 17 and 24. He just says that he is tired of looking at them. (He told my kids that it is kind of like wearing your favorite t-shirt everyday for years- It's cool for awhile and then it gets old.) He feels that they have faded with time and are no longer attractive to see.

See that is just so weird to me. I just feel like my tattoos are a part of who I am and I remember where I was in my life when I got each one of them and I could never regret them.

I have two and I have never regretting them. The first one I got when I was 23 and the second I got when I was 32.

You are so right, and I think that is part of his regret. His tattoos are pretty intense and remind him of a time that he would like to let go of.

I don't regret any of my 11 tattoos. They each have a story to tell and remind me of where I was in different periods of my life.

My uncle felt the same way about his tattoos. He got them while in the marines in the 1950s. At the time he got them, he said it was cool but after years of having them, he regretted them. He said that he wanted to get rid of them but he died before he could have that done.

You might change your mind after having them for 50 years. Maybe not but you never know. My uncle remembered when and where he got his too but it didn't make him like them any better.

I just got my first (and second, technically) 2 weeks ago. I'm 33 years old, and I don't anticipate any regret. I have 2 Chinese symbols on the center of my upper back. The top one is a dragon for my daughter and the bottom one is a monkey for my son. I'm really happy with them so far and my kids are proud of them.

Absolutely not. It will be a cold day in hell when I regret my tattoo.

That's how I feel... My first tattoo I got when I was 18. I loved dolphins (still do, but not like then) and its a dolphin jumping out of a wave on my ankle.
It's not the most talented piece of work, but 16 yrs later, and I don't regret it because it's what I wanted at the time, and I remember how happy I was to get it. It's the cool 'ankle' tattoo.. LOL

My Tinkerbell on my back I had wanted for 2 yrs before getting it, and now I've had it for 3.5 yrs. Still love it, just wish I could see it more :goodvibes:goodvibes

I don't have one, but I imagine i would feel pretty silly if I had my big tatoo of Foghorn Leghorn on my forearm, that I wanted to get 30 years ago.

Well, that's why I would never get one that I couldn't cover. Mine are all in places that people can see, unless I don't want them to see them. I think the people that regret them get ones that they can't cover.

My kids want tattoos too, and I'm taking DD18 to get one in a couple weeks. But she's getting a peace sign on her foot, easily covered and nothing to regret.

OTOH, at almost age 48, I am still thinking about getting an earring... :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Do it, do it, do it! ;)
I know, I'm a bad influence. Hey, you only live once so do what you can is my line of thinking.

For the OP, I absolutely do not regret my tattoo. To regret my tattoo would be regretting my battle with cancer. While it's the worst thing that has ever happened to me, it has shaped me in so many ways. I know what's important, I know to not take things for granted, and I now know what I want to do in life.

I guess I'll go ahead and break this love chain!

I got my first tattoo just days after I turned 18. I got a GIANT butterfly with tribal on my lower back. Yes, I loved it when I got it, I still love the colors of it (I went with a bright pink and a bright light blue)and it truly beautifully done, but it is "old" now. I feel like the aforementioned uncle - I am sick of "wearing" my "favorite" tee shirt. I can not bend over without knowing that my shirt will inevitably ride up and show off my "tramp stamp." :headache: My mom, who got her first tattoo for her 40th birthday told me to go small on my first tattoo. I told her: "go big or go home!" Darn teenagers think they know everything!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my second tattoo! I got Nemo on my shoulder blade just after my foster son was adopted into his forever home (his father's cousin in Virginia adopted him). He was in my care from the time he was 3 months until he was just shy of 15 months. Jayden will forever be my "first" child and I am proud to talk about this tattoo with anyone that asks about it or even mentions it!

Nope. I sure don't.

I have stars that go from my left hip up my ribs. I love it. It's very intricate, but hurt like nobodys business. It's rarely ever shown to anybody, and almost nobody knows I have them.

Yep. I have three (all Disney) and I wish I didn't have any.
I'm tired of them and can't wait until I can get them removed.
