Do you recommend the DDP or not

This is the last decision we need to make and I am not sure if it will be worth it or not. We will be visiting in May with 2 kids (ages 5 & 8) and are looking for some opinions. We plans to do 3 of the character meals and 1 nice dinner reservation if that helps any. Thanks

I think you need to figure out what it's going to cost OOP vs. the plan. Are you planning on eating offsite at all?

Anyway, we elected not to do the DDP. We'll probably order pizza in one night & having to use two credits to do that bothered me. Also my kids are only 5 & 2 and more than likely, they won't even get a meal on their own - they'll share off the other adults (total of 6 for our trip).

Can you even do DDP if you're offsite though? Hmmm...not even sure.

You have to stay onsite to get the dining plan.

You might want to go to www.allearsnet.com website to the "dining" tab. Check out where you plan on eating and the cost. Add it up. For a family of 2 adults/ 2 children the basic ddp is about $100 per night. Add up how much in food you would be spending based on the menus list. You'll see what your savings may or may not be.

The basic ddp is not a great value if you mostly eat counter service meals or tend to eat at the inexpensive restaurants. I don't see a great value in the q.s. dining plan either. However, we usually make adrs at: LeCellier, Mama Melrose fantastmic dinner package, Crystal Palace, Big River brew, Whispering Canyon so our savings is substancial!

Hello..I'm already cost analizing the dp for our sept. trip. Pretty much like everyone said look at the costs of where you want to eat and how it evens out with the dp. I have a fam of 6(plus baby)....2 of which will have just turned 10 before we go graduating up to full price so I was pretty bummed about that but after price comparing..we plan to do charecter dining at crystal palace, chef mickey, hollywood and vine..and maybe even the hoop de doo review it was actually a better value to use the dp...even with the 4 adult tiered prices. If you plan to do charecter dinners or lunches or like to dine at fancier places the plan is a good value but if not you may want to skip it. We are splitting our stay between two resorts so that gave us the advantage where we will be able to book the CS plan for half the time also. I think the CS plan is deffinately worth it. Depending on your fam size it can be a pain to bring food in the park you have to lug around with you and you have the ease of just grabbing food whenever you want. If you eat a light breakfast your snack credits could even be used for that! Goodluck with your decision!!! Hope that helps some!!!

They didn't offer the dining plans when our kids were young but we have used the dining plan the last 3 years. 1st time just DH and myself, 2nd time with 2 adult boys and 1 girlfriend back when you got appetizer and tips included. Last year just my DH and I used the Deluxe DP and basically had 1 reg sit down meal and 1 signature sit down meal per day. We did enjoy it but we won't do it during Food and Wine again. We we too full to enjoy many of the snacks.

The plan works good for us since my DH does not like counter service at all. At home he won't eat at fast food places either.
