Do you read locked threads?

Every time I see a locked thread, I always feel compelled to read it even if the original topic didn't interest me so much. It's like some ridiculous compulsion, if I see a locked thread, I must read it first for fear that it will get deleted soon and vanish into cyberspace heaven. I just need to see what happened on some rather innocent seeming threads in order to get them locked. Am I the only one? :surfweb:

Nope you're not the only one! I'm a compulsive reader of locked threads too. It's usually pretty obvious why they got locked, although I did see one yesterday or within the past few days that I was confused about.

...I look at the last page first--then I play, guess why it got locked. Was easier when the mods posted something. But without it--makes for a nice mystery.:3dglasses

To me, it's kind of like reading the headlines for the National Enquirer in the checkline. I know it's bad but I can't resist.

:lmao: Great way of putting it! I read them if I come upon them and usually it is apparent why it was closed.

I love locked threads! Sometimes I just search the column for a lock on it for something good to read. It's like reading a trashy novel-a guilty pleasure. I haven't read a good one in a long time, did I miss anything good?

Always. Sometimes lately since I've had less time to check in here, I just do a quick check to see if anything's been locked and is still on the first page or so.

As someone else said, I think it's our Dis version of the National Enquirer.

Of course I read them...who doesn't like a good train wreck?

I miss the plushy train wrecks...good reading.

There was one yesterday or the day before about what kind of jeans do you like that got locked. Read the whole thing twice couldn't figure out why it was locked.
I have a strange addiction to locked threads, I don't want to miss the good stuff.

I read them....depending on the mood of the mods, sometimes it seems they lock threads because they *could* be a controversial topic, other times you see threads which should have been closed based on title alone, but they aren't ... arbitrary, very subjective moderating!

That was the thread I was talking about! I read it probably 3 or 4 times trying to figure out what was so offensive about jeans that made the thread get locked, and still have no clue.

It's against the rules to re-start a thread dealing with a subject that has already been shut down by the mods. If you see a seemingly innocuous thread subject that has been closed, it's a pretty sure bet that the OP is obliquely referring to something else - as in the case of the thread you are referring to.;)

Oh well geez.. and here I thought it was just an innocent thread about brands of jeans. But, now that you mention it, I remember from another locked thread something that was mentioned about that subject. Makes sense now!

Yep, I read locked threads...although...there aren't as many as there used to be....;) Bummer.

Drawn in like a moth to the flame!!

Ain't that the truth!

At first I couldn't figure that one out....but there were a few other threads that were locked for the same reason I think.

I can't help but read locked threads. I don't want to miss any of the good stuff you know.

Of course I read locked threads--I'm nosey and have to figure out what I've missed! :thumbsup2 I'm particularly intrigued when the thread title is something innocent like "What's your favorite fruit?" but it had grown to 8 pages before it was locked. I HAVE to know how it went off the tracks.
