When I was a child, that was my favorite part of decorating the tree! I loved it! Now, I don't. :teeth: Do you put tinsel on your tree? :)

I need another option -- No, because tinsel is dangerous for kitties. :)

Nope not anymore! We used to all the time. But we quit when we stopped using a real tree.

Absolutely not! No one with pets should have tinsel.

LOL, yep, one strand at a time also.

I didn't have it when I had cats. Tooo dangerous. But my Maxie doesn't bother it at all.

I'm with Rajah on this one. Tinsel + cats doesn't work. I like the way it looks, very nostalgic for me too.

Nope. It wouldn't be good for the dog or my sanity. We have to have an artificial tree because DH is allergic to real ones. I can't imagine taking all the tinsel off every year.

No we don't put "icicles" up as we also have to worry about our "fur babies". I wouldn't want them to get sick.Cats are really attracted to anything sparkly and love to eat it.:(

I never liked tinsel. It always took up too much time and is messy.

Yes, I love my tinsel, but it can only be gold and I put it on one strand at a time (or a couple at a time, but no clumps). I also remove it one strand at a time because it is so hard to find the kind that I like that I reuse it every year.

On a side note, I have had a cat for 16 years and have never had a problem with him and the tinsel.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

No. We used to use tinsel when I was little but haven't used it in years. It's too messy for me.

We use garland.

One year we strayed, and tried the tinsel, but it's just too darned messy.

I think the tinsel tends to shine better, and therefore looks prettier, but we stick with the garland.

I grew up with tinsel also, and spent many a Christmas pulling it out of my dog... don't ASK which end!! :earseek: Let's put it this way, it comes out INTACT!

Now with 4 cats, no, I will not be pulling it out of my babies. We do put it up on my parents' tree, though, since they don't have animals, now.

I used to put it on all of my trees until one of my cats, about 15 years ago, was walking around with tinsel coming out of her..... Well, you know. (_o_)

Well after pulling it the rest of the way out I have never felt quite the same about tinsel again. I have cats, therefore I have not tinsel and my cats must find some other way of decorating their rear ends. After talking to the vet I found that we were actually pretty lucky that it didn't knot around her intestines.

I feel you need a CATagory that says

"Really like it but found gross things happen when a cat eats it so I don't use it anymore"

Growing up, my mom put so much tinsel on the tree that you couldn't see the ornaments. It was so tacky, but I would give anything to see my mom's tacky tinsel tree again.

We have cats, so we can't use tinsel. I think if we didn't have cats we would pile it on just like mom did. :)
