We have an upcoming stay at BLT in a LV studio and I was wondering how many members put in requests before check in. Would love a high floor but wasn't sure if I should bother putting a request in or just see what room we are assigned by chance.

Do you put in requests for certain resorts, but not others?

If you have put in requests, what have the results been?

I always put in requests.
In resorts like OKW and SSR, I prefer not to have a long hike to the busses, so I request near transportation. Also, I have problems with my feet sometimes, so if I'm having a particularly bad month with foot pain, I will request ground floor to avoid stairs.
I don't always get my requests, so I consider every room assignment to be a gamble, I just like to lower the odds a little with some requests.

The only ones I don't bother with a request is if I'm in a booking category with very few rooms, like BWV standard.

That said, I had a BLT standard room last month. I put in a request for close to sky bridge. We ended up on the first floor, facing the lake but very close to the elevator. If you don't want to hear the electrical parade, ask for a higher floor, but don't negate that by checking the thing where you'd like your room as early as possible. A request can't hurt, it only helps :)

We put in requests. We rarely get our requests though. I do not know if it is due to the fact that we are normally late arrivers on day one (arrive at night) and if we just get what is left.

We like high floors at BLT and when doing a LV prefer an even number room. And sometimes we will ask for an even number room north end as we are trying to get one of the lake view rooms that you can see MK. To me BLT isn't that big, it's not like BWV or AKV where you have long hallways--it might take 5 minutes tops to get anywhere and there are elevators at each end. Being near the bridge is not a factor except you get the noise from people crossing the bridge when you are on your balcony. It's not that bad really.

Last time we stayed at AKV, Jambo House we didn't bother with a view. When we stay at Kidani Village we ask for a lower floor to see the animals better than the fifth floor views you get at Jambo House. I know I am in for a walk at either, sort of like when I stay at BWV--chances are you are going to walk.

I always place requests, but I never have the expectation of getting them. If I get them, it's always a nice surprise -- but if not, it's completely fine.

Yes, I put in requests at certain resorts, because we seem to like where most people don't like! :teleport: I figure the room scheduler likes knowing that we would be happy to have a long walk, don't mind climbing 3 flights of stairs (OKW) etc. As you might expect, we generally get our requests...

I do make requests, but they are pretty generic. For example: "A water view" at OKW, or "An upper floor" at BLT.

I always put in requests and 99% of the time they are very general like above, "High Floor," or "Far from elevator" etc... My next trip is the first time that I am specifically requesting a certain villa knowing that my chances are very, very, very slim-- with a secondary request of high floor. We just loved that villa so much we're trying our luck we can get it again.

Request it is! I can do this via email correct? or is it better to call member services? I was thinking High Floor for BLT and Pool View for AKV-Kidani Standard Studio (that means I won't be miles away from the lobby if the request is met correct?)

I always but in requests and have had good success! Our AKV room was AMAZING!!

You can email, you'll get a generic response but they do try!

I just email with the resort details and my requests. A few days later they confirm they have gotten them and entered them but cannot confirm the requests will be met.

I chose "always" and I would say my success rate is about 50-50. I usually just call MS at some point with my request. Last summer we went to VGC and Aulani and I put in requests at both resorts and did not get either of them. VGC is very small so I knew the odds were slim. I had higher hopes for Aulani but we arrived during a hurricane which had kept the resort at full 100% capacity because people extended their stays and there just wasn't any availability. When we go someplace like SSR I usually just request a specific section like Grandstand. When we stayed in a LV at BLT I requested a higher floor on the north side with an even room number and we got just that and it was perfect. Some resorts I request close to transportation or pool view etc. then cross my fingers it will happen. One time we stayed at AKV Kidani and I requested close to bus stop and we got RIGHT IN FRONT of the bus stop. Well, so that ended up being annoying because we heard every bus pull in & out. :rotfl: I won't word it quite like that again!

OK, not sure what just happened. Double post. The new DIS is going to take some getting used to.

My success rate is about 50/50. I have a hard time at BWV. For boardwalk view, I request top floor, close to the elevator. Typically get 3 or 4 (of 5) and far from elevator. To be fair, there are not a lot of studios close to the elevator. At BLT, I requested even number room, north side and got it. That gives you a partial view of MK with lake view. At VGC in 2013, I gave them a list of 5 room numbers that face the park and got one. At VGF lake view, I requested high floor, got 2nd floor.

I always put in requests and a lot of the time they are pretty much met.

I voted "always", but it's really almost always. I've found that we're more succesfull if we make broad requests, like "high floor", instead of naming a specific floor. And the couple times we've asked for specific room #s, we've ended up as far away from that room as possible, very different kind of view, etc. I don't think room assigners like too specific! Usually we get broad requests, although last time "high" floor was the second floor. Oh, well! No guarantees!

I make requests sometimes. And sometimes they are met, but not always.

I always make a room request. We usually stay at OKW or SSR and all I want in a room is a quiet deck. I'm always up hours before anyone else and hang out on the deck with my tea and laptop. :surfweb:

In the past, I have never been one to request and have been very lucky with room assignments. However, after our recent stay at VWL, I can see the merit in requesting a certain category.

I tore my meniscus and dislocated my knee the last week of December and was in a quandary as to keep our 1/19 vacation or scrap it. We decided to keep the vacation, skip the parks and just enjoy our room/resort/balcony during our stay while I was still rehabbing. We arrived at VWL, received a timely room assignment and off we went. Upon arrival in our room, I opened the drapes to find NO balcony. Having never stayed at VWL before, I thought maybe this was something unique to the studios there, but yet everywhere I looked, I saw balconies. I called the front desk and asked about the balcony situation and explained that I planned on utilizing said balcony heavily due to my knee situation. I was informed that there is ONE ....... Yes, 1, studio in all of VWL with no balcony. I starting cracking up and asked nicely if we could please be moved. Our request was met and the remainder of our time there was lovely. Case in point ...... When requesting a studio at VWL, ask for a balcony!

We have an upcoming stay at HHi and I am still in the knee rehab business, even though I may be back to normal in a couple of weeks. I called member services and asked for a room in the main lodge in the event my knee becomes problematic. What I didn't want to do was get assigned a room on the top floor and have to climb 3 flights of stairs every time I went in or out of the villa. They were most accommodating at Member Services and I now have peace of mind that I'll navigate the resort without too much fanfare.

I don't think I will push my luck for any other vacations by requesting a category, as I already feel I have won the lottery!
