Do you prefer to be by mountains, lakes, plains, deserts, or beaches?

::MickeyMo

I feel the same way. I would like nothing more than to be on a beach 365 days a year, unless I'm at WDW, of course. Even if I'm a few blocks from the beach, I'd be happy. I just love tropical settings. I like to read stories with a tropical setting and I'm realizing more and more the music I listen to reminds me of a tropical setting in it's own, weird way.

And if you really want to listen to music that is good and reminds you of a tropical setting, listen to anything by Jack Johnson. He lives in Hawaii and was a former pro surfer. His music makes you feel like you're actually there. Good stuff.

oh and - there is nothing like the "high" I get off those awesome smelling coconut suntan oils! I love 'em - the smell truly puts me in a great mood regardless....I even have one at my desk!! Shhh!!

lillygator, have you tried 'CocoCabana' Lotion and spray from Bath and Body? It is like being on the beach all day long. Try it! I prefer the ocean...the rocky coast of southern Maine with crashing waves is the best place in all the world. But I am also a beach girl and love warm sand, bare feet, and tan legs. Southern California has the best beaches, but we have some really nice ones in New England, too. :)

I know what you mean! Like I said in my original post, I have this thing for sunscreens. It makes me happy just to stop and look at the display of sunscreens in the store. :rotfl2: I have plenty at home, but that doesn't stop me from buying more.

I'm also in love with the little travel sizes, and if they come with a keychain type clip, well, I'm in heaven. :) Same with the coconut, cocoa butter flavor/smelling lipbalms. Many of them come with a little clip, also. In the summertime, I can be seen with various little sunscreens and lipbalms clipped to my purse or backback!

All of the above which is why living here is so great.

If I had to pick one I would go with lake.

Hey, neighbor...you took the words out of my mouth! I was going to say "all of the above and that's why I'm in WA!"

If I had to pick one, it would be beach! But WARMER beach than WA, LOL!

Well my motto is; " If you're lucky enough to live on the beach then you're lucky enough!" I loved living on the water and fishing of the pier, checking crab traps, water skiing and falling asleep in my hammock being rocked by the afternoon breeze. :teeth: Dab nab it I miss my house. And don't get me started about flip flops! :rotfl2: I feel like a slob if I wear flip flops anywhere but my house.

I absolutly love the beach and one of my favorite places to vacation during the summer is Cape Cod. I hate the cold and that is one reason why I moved to Florida this past year to attend college. However, since i have endured many many New England winters I have to say that there is nothing better than to go to the mountains and go skiing for the day. So I guess i like a little of both worlds.

Beach girl here!! I was soo happy moving from Ohio to Houston 4 years ago. I'm only 90 minutes to the beach. I have a pool in my backyard that has palm trees and in very paradise like. My house is beach themed. I even named my house Life's A Beach. My family in Ohio think I'm absolutely crazy as they're all mountain people. They say to me what are you thinking with all that heat and humidity??!! :confused3 The mountains are pretty but I just can't understand how they think paradise would be a mountain cabin in the winter-HELLOO-cold and snow. :sad2: We laugh at each other-to each their own. :rotfl:

I'd like one of each, please :wizard: ! As much as I enjoy mountain forests and waterfalls etc, I gotta go with the beach. I grew up 20 minutes away and I've never lived more than a few hours away from the ocean. If I found myself more than a day away, I would miss it a lot. Even if I don't go often, I like to know it's close by.

I get bored at the beach...there is nothing to DO at the beach.

I way prefer the mountains...hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, camping etc.

For me, the beach is a place to refresh my soul and think about the past while dreaming of the future, usually with my DH walking beside me. It takes me from an otherwise hectic schedule with many responsibilities and gives me space to breath and think and dream. The endless stretch of sand and sea helps to re-energize me. I think people who enjoy mountain climbing get the same feeling from it. It is a great way to renew your spirit! :)

I'm tired of beaches - been around them forever! I love mountains b/c I don't see them often. Mountain air just seems so fresh, though sea air is too.

I've lived by lakes; I've lived by mountains; some day I'd love to live by a beach with a palm tree in my yard!! :)

Yeah, I DO need a 12-step program. Hi my name is Kate, I'm a beach addict. :lmao:

I tend to favor the mountains and lakes, but the beach isn't so bad either. Depends on my mood.

I live in NH with lots of mountains, lakes, and beaches. Never been to a desert so I couldnt say if I would like them and plains either for that matter.

I love the beach too, but just don't get the same 'thrill'...It is more of a relaxing feeling, not a thrilling one.

The beach!! Of course, I've spent the last 46 years in Florida, which might have something to do with my preferences. :sunny:

DH and I hit Disney every month during cool weather, and the beach every month during warm weather. Yeah, we're stuck in a rut, but we love our rut! :goodvibes We figure when you live in Paradise, why leave??

We have a St Augustine bathroom, plus water-related art throughout the house (two beach scenes painted by DH's father in the living room;a fish print, clock painted with cats picking up fish in their mouth from the ocean, and a print of the San Antonio River Walk in our dining room; and a St Augustine lighthouse trivet and framed print in our kitchen).

DH and I DON'T like vacations where we do nothing except lay around the beach, but we LOVE the water. We spend a lot of time playing in the water, but like being at a beach with a city nearby. St Augustine has lots to do besides the beach, plus Jacksonville is only an hour away.
