Do you park at the airport at home?

My DH told me he hated all these shuttles to save money, we stay in overprices Holliday inns ( AOA) buy overpriced popcorn and snacks but i want to try and save $100 on parking.. I like the idea of someone staying with the kids and someone getting the car... I guess it all depends on what time we get into the airport. As of now its lunch time but we are thinking of changing our flight to come in at night and spend the morning at our disney resort.
Fyi: i was able to book RT air from dfw to mco in October for $50

When flying out of Boston we usually use the remote economy lot because parking is ridiculous. When flying out of Hartford I usually park at one of the lots you can walk to the terminal from, but not the main garage (most expensive). Even going mid-level, Hartford costs less than half what it does in Boston for the remote economy lot.

I wouldn't do a shuttle at night, I did that ONCE. You're already so tired from travel and then you have to wait for the shuttle, go to the car and then leave. I sort of agree with your husband, once you're paying a zillion dollars is saving the extra 100 bucks really worth the hassle?

We always park at the airport. We live in the suburbs/slightly rural area, so Uber/Lyft is not always quickly available. We also tend to book early departures and late arrivals, so we don't want to inconvenience family to drop us off and pick us up. We live about 35 minutes from the airport as well.

We park in our airport's long term lot which is on airport property but still requires a shuttle to get to the departure area. I have always found shuttles to be frequent and pretty quick, never taking more than 15 minutes from parking to arriving at the departure area. Often, DH will drop me off at the departure area with the luggage and I will check us in and tag the luggage while he parks the car and takes the shuttle. This way we both don't have to hassle with lugging the suitcases on the shuttle.

DFW is much busier than my home airport in Buffalo, but with an 8am flight, I would drive myself and leave ample time. If you're concerned with getting lost on airport grounds or that you won't have enough time, I might schedule a car service in advance. Not sure I'd chance it with Uber/Lyft at 5-6am, unless they are typically readily available in your area at that time.

We are taking a quick weekend trip..
I was thinking of paying the high price of parking up close at the airport. Im not sure if its worth it. I know its cheaper to park far away take the airport shuttle to the gate
( then later that day bus to WDW) just a lot of shuffling on buses in one day...
What do you do to get to the airport?
Should i consider uber?
Family of 4 about 15 miles from airport/ DFW 8am flight
Friday -Monday
Check to see if your airport is currently offering reduced price parking. Our departure airport is currently only charging $10 per night even for garage parking right next to the terminal, due to fewer people flying.

Very fortunate, 10 minutes from the airport and have a reciprocal “taxi service” agreement with a family friend. He drives us, we drive him.

We live about 2 hours from BWI (75 miles) or 1.25 hours from PHL (60 miles) so Uber/Lyft or car hire is not really an option. Give the distance and traffic/time to either airport, we don't ask for a ride as it just is a lot to ask someone. So we pay to park. We have our favorite offsite lots at both airports, and especially at BWI, parking is very reasonable. Our next trip though, we are flying out of PHL and want to be as COVID safe as possible and avoid any type of shuttling so we are going to park in the long term garage at the airport. It is fairly pricey for a 9 day trip, but we are going to eat the cost just for the convenience and safety of no shuttling and walking right into the airport.

I called they said go online and prepay for parking on the website for up to half off.. I cant belive I did not think of this..lol $ 44 for 4 nights

The airport I regularly use has free parking and a small parking lot (no shuttle needed) so it’s pretty nice. Sometimes I think about using a larger, international airport that is about half an hour away from the smaller airport I use so that I can use an airline that participates in RAC (the airline I use doesn’t participate), but I don’t think it’s worth it for a slightly longer (but much crappier) drive and having to pay to park.
