1st let me say, we will usually go to dw about once a year maybe 2 times a year if we get that itch again. my dh says when you go to dw it makes you feel comfortable and welcome and I believe the same feeling is for me too :goodvibes

We are starting the process found a dvc we liked okw :goodvibes paper work just went in the other day now waiting for disney to approve :scared:

my kids know whats going on with the dvc and they are happy but family /friends probably think we are weird because of our love of disney and now that we are considering doing a dvc
well lets say in their minds they probably think we are nuts. My husband doesn't really tell eveyone about dw vacations anymore because they say "oh your going back there again?"

with this new dvc i am going to get (hopefully) we are going to do a yearly trip and probably save points up to go other places as well so for us it not all disney.

Do you have the same problems with friends/family that don't understand the love for disney and the purchase of a dvc??
do your friends/family think its strange that you go to dw too many times??

Yes, they do, but I don't care! I do what makes my family happy and just think that they don't know what they're missing! :)

No because they find us strange enough as it is. When we finally buy DVC (hopefully at GVC!) I'm not going to bother to tell anyone exactly *how* we are paying for our accomodations year after year. It's really irrelevant.

We're very private people, so only a few people know about our DVC purchase. And none of them know how much we paid per point, or how many points we have. It's just no one's business but our own, really.

I remember consulting my folks about our first timeshare purchase (by phone just hours before we attended "the presentation") ... but DVC was our 5th ... and seriously I don't think anyone noticed or cared.

Our family and friends know about our DVC purchase(s). Many have been invited to come and join us for a visit or two.:goodvibes and most of the invited people have come and had a blast!

I do tend to say "going to Florida" as the code for WDW when co-workers or acquaintances ask where we're heading to if it's become known that we will be traveling. Our family does not live in Ohio, so we are often away at least one weekend a month anyway. Boston is our next destination!

Just had to tell you...love your Avatar!

I don't get a lot of things other folks do with their money...I'm okay with what I do with mine!!!

People think we're crazy for spending the money we do on Disney Vacations. Right now we are buying a DVC at AKV (as in Monday:goodvibes ) I'm not sure I even want them knowing at all. I don't like being told how to spend my money by people who never seem to have anything but debt. The cost of 200 points is about the same as a used car. I don't need another car, I need a vacation:banana:

Most people who know that we bought a DVC privately or quietly think its crazy and a waste of money..."how many times can you go there... easiest think to buy hardest thing to sell"..... Their comments are meaningless..... in the end all that matters is my familys happiness... my life is exactly that...MINE.:thumbsup2

We're only a few weeks ahead in the process, we're coming on three weeks awaiting ROFR. Frankly, I don't think we plan to inform anyone who doesn't need to know. If we're going to take someone with us, we'll tell them. Otherwise, we don't need to disclose such information to anyone else - it is no one's business but our's.

We only told my sister and my son. They are the only ones we invite to join us. The rest of the family does NOT need to know. I'm lucky my sis feels the same way - and she and her DH are considering joining, too. Our son is already on our contract and feels the same way. We don't discuss it with friends. It's none of their business, and I don't want to be confronted with, "Say, are you using that condo at Disney this year?" It's much simpler if they don't know to start with. As far as anyone else is concerned, we just go to WDW a lot. Our son works there, so we have a good excuse.

We vacation with family and friends and I just bought enough points resale to do 5-6 days in a GV at OKW every 2 years. Everybody is looking forward to it. They know how “cheap” I am so they know it must be a good deal.

No way (I won't tell any of them) I told the kids not to say anything ...they think we're wierd enough. In my opinion...I don't care what everyone else does only what makes my fam happy:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes ...I think our small house is fabulous and my kids are getting memories an lots o lots of family time and love.Planning and vacationing is a must do all together.:) Come to think about it I guess we're all co dependent:confused3 Oh well...it's our secret:rotfl: :rotfl:

When we told my DM, she didn't understand it until she stayed at BWV's with us. My DH's parent's just don't understand our disney obsession so they are just not interested. My brother told us it was about time we owned something at Disney. Other people just don't get it.

I tell everyone..... I know that for the next 50 years... I can go to Disney... It will cost me much less in the wrong run.....I am from NY.. .and going to Disney in Feb... really has some perks.

The point system at DVC,... allows maxiumum flexibility... I looked one time... I could stay at SSR for the whole month of September.... or like I did last year... have 3 1 brds and 1 studio for a week at BCV.

Since I purchased back in 2003... 2 people I have told about DVC... have purchased...

:yay: we made the mistake of sharing our joy...and the family just didnt get it. although i think they are secretly JEALOUS. while they all choose to be house rich, we live modestly and concentrate on making our kids happy :yay:
