Do you need your park tickets to get Frozen fp?

We'll be in DL next week! I was thinking about running to get RSR fast passes while my husband stands in line for Frozen fast passes. If I don't get back by the time he makes it to the front of the line, will he need the park tickets to get them? I wasn't sure if it was a machine or a CM who was handing them out. Assuming the splitting up strategy won't work, which would you suggest getting first?

Yes, you need them to get the Frozen FP as they are scanned at a mobile unit.

Isn't there an area for people to wait once they get to the front of the line at Frozen if they want a later show (or maybe these days for a different section)? I'm just wondering if your runner got to the front of the line before you did if he could wait off to the side? Not sure if this would work or not, just a thought.

I would probably start with the Frozen FPs so you have more of a chance to choose which show/seating area you get. The FPs now have an assigned seating area for each show on them, so if you get there and it's not the show time you want or the seating area you want, you can wait a bit and get the next option (e.g., if I got there and they were distributed first show balcony, I'd wait until it clicked over to second show orchestra). After that, you'll know which show time you have and then you can head over to the RSR FP. Just make sure the RSR FP time doesn't conflict with the Frozen show time (the show has about an hour run time, but I'd give it about 75 minutes just to be safe).

So what happens to the first FP you got? If you wait to get another one, you have to give the first one back right? Then do they give that away? And if you don't get the seat you want, do you go back in line to get another FP or wait on the side?

Thanks for your input!

No, you ask the CM which show time/seating area they're distributing before you scan your ticket. If you've scanned your ticket and gotten the FP, then there is nothing to be done (aside from plead your case with the Lead). If it's not the one you want, I would just step aside and let other guests go until they start distributing the time/show you want. I haven't actually tried this with Frozen, but that's worked at F! and WoC, which have a similar system/set-up (assigned viewing area and show time).

The kiosk clearly states the time of the show, but not the seating. You will not be allowed to wait to one side (I tried but was refused last Saturday). If you need the second show, and it is still giving out first show tickets, you are directed to the end of the line. I opted to take the Frozen FP and then change my noon ADR for the Paint the Night dining package (Grab and Go at Aladdin's Oasis).

Thanks for the update. That's disappointing to hear. I truly hope at some point they go back to the non-assigned seating system they had when the show first debuted.

I foresee a thread on trading fps for the shows if you can't just stand aside to wait for the show you want.

That did happen in the early days of WoC. I needed a FP for a later show, but ended up with the earlier show. So, I hung around until they started handing out the later show times and the CM at the exit helped facilitate trades between guest groups. The hardest part was finding the right number of FPs.

I really dislike this method, just have 3 different carts/machines and let the people choose which show they want to scan for!

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess I'll make Frizen my first priority that day so we can get good seats.

We were there last Monday (6/6) and they were definitely letting guests wait to the side if they wanted a later show than what was being distributed at the time.

Well, on Saturday 6/11, they were not. I was directed to either take what was there, or go to the back of the line. So it think that once again CM inconstancy rears its ugly head.

Or it's the new policy. It probably gets difficult to manage crowds and the line if an ever-larger group of people hovers around the machines just to the side and then wants to "cut back in" when what they're waiting for is available. Yes, they already waited through the line once, but the people actually still in line may not understand or recognize this and things good get a little ugly. Too bad if this is the way it has to be. It always seemed to work ok at RSR fp machines to let some step aside, but I don't know the numbers of people who might be trying to use that option for Frozen and what kind of frustrations it presents from the CM perspective.

I'm targeting the last show, and am not too concerned about location in the theater. What time have the FPs been running out lately?

On Monday 6/6, they switched over to the 3rd show just a few minutes after 9 am. Not sure how long they lasted though.
