Do you LOVE your iPhone? Hate it? Not all it's cracked up to be?

I have a business phone but we are looking to switch providers, assuming we can get a better deal. Several of us have our eye on the iPhone (we are currently on Sprint and can't have it). DH has heard from some people that it's not all it's cracked up to be, that the screen is hard to type on, and butt dialing is common

I had a Palm Treo and like the keyboard but didn't like the small screen (esp for surfing the net). It died a quick and painless death last week and I'm back to a cheap flip phone temporarily. I would get the Palm Pre if we stuck with Sprint.

Rants or raves on the iPhone?

i love my iPhone...i can't think of anything wrong with it...the keyboard does take some getting used to but its not hard at all..

I love the iphone, especially the applications that are available. I'm always surprised about the variety that's out there. Several of my siblings have them now and at family get togethers everyone is pulling theirs out and showing each other new apps we've found and like.
Never have any butt dialing if you turn off the screen when you're done (automatic for me). Also, I don't have particularly small fingers and the typing is a perfect size. And I like that the keyboard isn't hardware so that it's always taking up space on my phone.

LOVE my iPhone. I have never butt dialed on it. I don't see how you could do it because first you have to press he button, then slide the slider, then press "Phone" ...... nope, too many steps for there ever to be butt dialing.

I love all the apps that I can get on it. I love having the real internet and not some fake list of headlines. I love the texting is soooooooo easy. I love having my calendar on my phone, and that when I update it automatically updates my DH's phone and the calendar on the computer at home.

I could go on, but I've probably said enough!

Do you necessarily need a MAC to interphase with an iphone?

I got my iphone 3GS about 2 1/2 weeks ago so I'm still learning everything it can do, but so far I love it. My only complaint is that the battery drains quickly. I charged my old LG phone about every 3rd day but I have to charge my iphone every day.

I have a deep, deep love for my iphone. I've been a user since Day 1 of release. I recently upgraded to the 3GS and my love has grown deeper. :lovestruc

No, you don't need a MAC. I'm on a PC. All you need is to install Itunes. :)

I have a 1st generation iPhone. A couple of months ago I would've told you that the iPhone has quite a few annoying limitations e.g. no cut & paste feature, no forwarding of text messages, no way to text a photo to someone and keyboard too narrow to type an email but the new OS (operating system) has fixed these problems so it's a great time to get an iPhone. Yes it will take a little time to adjust to the keypad but once you adjust you'll love it. I'm typing this post on my iPhone as I do nearly all my posts - why walk 8 feet to my desktop when I can type right here on the couch? Lol

As the pp said, the apps (applications) are great and many of them are free. They're developing new apps all the time too. I got hooked on the Tetris app. :lmao: I love the Flashlight app (for reading in bed!) and I use a great little Budgeting app to track my spending - there's tons of them.

Of course it's also an iPod - I love listening to podcasts when I'm out walking. It makes exercising less boring!

Good luck deciding! I've always used Apple products and have no complaints really. :)

Good point! :thumbsup2 I use mine to watch downloaded tv shows on the eliptical at the gym! It makes the time FLY by.

Would you believe we still can't buy movies and tv shows for iTunes here in Ireland? Some legal obstacle. I know how to convert movies I already own but I hate that we're not allowed to buy them though!

Do you have it set to pull data automatically or mobile me synching all the time? Those use a lot of battery. If you set it to only pull data when you do it manually the battery life will last a lot longer.:)

Really? I hadn't heard that. What a bummer! I hope that changes soon.

I get confused on it...but my DD has one...and she loves it :cutie:

I've had my 3G for nearly a year now. Previously, I owned a number of PDA style phones. (Windows mobile, palm, treo's etc).

NOTHING will get me to part with my beloved iPhone, LOL. Seriously, it is simply the best hand held phone\computing device I have ever owned. Between the PDA functionality, applications, web and e-mail abilities, it's like taking my laptop along anywhere I go. Also, it probably works better keeping things in sync with my computer than anything I have previously used. From contacts to calendars, it's great!

Oh, did I mention it's also the best iPod I've ever owned, and oh yeah, it's a phone to boot! :thumbsup2

Love my iPhone. Love everything about it. I was a longtime iPod user and had adored my 16GB iPod Touch; I watched movies and TV shows and whatnot on it all day while at work (well, I listen to them while working, but you get the idea). The one thing I hated was that I had to move different movies onto and off of the iPod daily because of the size limitations. Upgrading to a 32GB Touch would have run me $399 and I still would have had to have lugged around my BlackBerry; switching to a 32GB iPhone only cost $299 and consolidated devices for me (I was upgrade-eligible). It was a no-brainer to make the switch, and I couldn't be happier.

Oh, and the internet browsing experience is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the BB's. LIGHT YEARS. And this is coming from somebody who was a diehard BB devotee before June 19. :)

Oh, and the oleophobic screen (available only on the new 3Gs, not the 3G) really does work! I thought it was a gimmick until I tried it. I used to hate the fact that any time I talked on my BB, I'd have to practically scrub down the screen (I'm completely anal about my phone screen being pristine at all times); with the 3Gs, yes, the face-nastiness and fingerprints do show up, but all it takes to get them off is a quick swipe with a cloth, shirttail, etc.

Wow! Unanimous fans of the iPhone! thanks for sharing your thoughts - sounds like the right choice for me when/if the time comes. Hopefully SOON!

I along with DH and DS10 all LOVE our iPhones!! They are amazing!!
