Do you lock your suitcases?

I've recently come back from Atlanta and the check-in clerk at the American Airlines desk asked me to unlock the padlock before I checked the bag in. If not it would likely be broken.

Bag got back all intact with a nice little note saying they'd searched my bag (which was full of dirty laundry!) nice .....

We are taking three suitcases and a holdall none of these can be secured with cable ties. QUOTE]

We were in the same position so used luggage straps and secured them with TSA locks and cable ties. I just felt better knowing they had some sort of lock on them.

You will have a fantastic time, no fear of that.

We have a hard Samsonite case too :thumbsup2 with built in key locks and a combination lock plus hard suitcases which expand:thumbsup2 which we lock with TSA approved locks. Only problem we had with the latter was at Charles de Gaulles (sp?) airport they cut off one of our locks, I think they thought our one strip of paracetamol was something else:confused3. We'll take cable ties this time so we can secure them if this were to happen again, hopefully not.. we'll have our medicines in the hand luggage next time.

I agree with the locks. The TSA locks are the answer .Only the American authorities have the master key. This saves the cost of damage to luggage. You can get them at most dept stores John Lewis ,House of Fraser etc. They cost around £5 per lock.hope this helps.

if you know an electricion or someone in building trade they can get you plenty of cable ties
